The game has new dunks and layups and like 2k falling on the floor while making a layup or dunk animations. The A. I. adjust pretty well at halftime if you had a big first half (I was the Cavs, Lebron dropped 31 in first was contained in the 2nd). Team and transition defense are greatly improved. Players actually interact more with each other after plays instead walking around like drones.

UVA44,

If Lebron can´t score 50 points, how can do it Rondo?

What dificult level are you playing?
How many complet games?

The people ,much manytimes, talk without experience.

I found the CZAR tutorials really helpful and it got me pumped to learn how to execute crossover moves, shoulder fakes etc to create space in game. Go search for these tutorials and you'll get it right in just a couple of minutes in the practice gym.

What I like about live09 over 2k9 is the fun on defense; how I can beat the opponent to the spot and stop their crossover animation. Trust me, its so much fun having to read your opponents move when playing man on man. IMO Its much more realisitc than holding down the left trigger and the computer helps you maintain a certain distance from the person dribbling the ball

It's much improved man...it still has some issues with animations and stuff but for the most part it's a huge step up.

One thing that really caught my attention is that when you look at the playbooks this year EA set them up almost exactly the way I've been assigning team set plays the past few years meaning they no longer have Quick Plays as the base playbook

They set up things using an actual designed play and it also tells you who the Play is designed for by player name.

Kinda how we used the top 3 players on each team in years past and assigned them the bulk of the playbook.

So, now you see more movement out of the CPU right away.

Yeah, I been playing it. When I get the roster updates I'm gonna start tweaking the player edits. I've done it for a two teams already and I'm right. the player ratings do affect the animations. You don't have to tweak as much because EA fixed most of the problems.

In this game you REALLY have to play defense, I have to work on mine, cause for some reason I can't stop the computer. If you don't play this game with patience your gonna get blown out lol.

It is way more addicting this year that's for sure. I normally don't get through 2 years of Dynasty play but this year I may very well get deeper into it.

I want clarify something I said earlier, the animations are still hit or miss but for the most part the one's I've seen are pretty damn good. On the lower speeds you see stuff better and fouls sliders work great this year. Lot's of contact fouls inside the paint, jump shooters like Kobe drawing fouls on the perimeter.

PG's drive and kick out for the 1st ever on Next Gen for Live.....T-Mac split a double team and on my ass and dropped it off to Yao who scored and drew the foul on Dampier it was sweet.

The Dunk vs Layup Slider not sure if anyone has noitced it yet but it makes guys like LBJ and Wade that much more aggressive at attacking the basket.

I still have it default but the dunks are so much better this year I'm thinking about raising it up just to see more of them within the game. The layups are cool but man some of the dunks are awesome especially in the open floor when you get that fast break which by the way has been toned down big time.

Speaking of Fast breaks I realized EA wanted to keep it up under control but for those doing edits this year both the Warriors and Knicks need to be edited making them more wide open and aggressive in pushing the pace. I held the Warriors to 8 fast break points on 9 minute qtr's and they didn't scare me in transistion.

So, it's not great game but based on what I'm seeing with proper sliders and edits it can tweaked to be a damn good NBA game.

It deserves an avg score IMO of atleast an 8.0 and that's without tweaking any thing.

For PS3 users, I was just wondering can you start playing the season mode (actual 2008-09 season) even if the season hasn't started yet. Or do you need to wait for the actual season to start so you can make use of live 365?

For the sliders is it best to move each one to it's max, to make the games more interesting?

got the game. i think it's better out of the box than 2k9 but after putting in some sliders, we'll see who comes out on top. live 365 doesn't work like everybody says, which is inexcusable. btw, i played a game and my cpu opponent layed up the ball through the bottom of the basket and i blocked it so they called it goaltending. lol

wouldn't 365 not work well now because the season hasn't started yet.
and after reading several reviews, it seems like live has made many steps up, but still fall short

Well, it looks like it's already available in Australia as I was just able to pick it up from my local EB Games. I've picked up the Xbox 360 and PS2 versions so I can review both and also in the hope that we can harvest some files from the PS2 version for our PC updates. For my fellow Australians, if your local stores don't already have it then I'd say it's definitely going to be on the shelves tomorrow.

bwahahaha!!!!

Hi everyone, I'm new here :D

Yup, just like most of the people here, I just got NBA LIVE 09 last night, for the PSP though. I'll be getting myself the PS2 version later in the day.

I'll be posting my insights on the PSP version in the other threads (Y)

Drew, I will be looking forward to your 360 review. One question, will you be giving 2K9 a go and be able to compare them? Or you planning on not touching 2K9?

(EDIT: I think I read in another thread that you are indeed getting 2K9 on 360... so will be looking forward to hearing your thoughts about the game if they are coming)

I'll be checking out 2K9 and doing a comparison review too but my review of NBA Live 09 will be going up first.
