Panasonic Viera 52 inch. With a great surround system as well. Watched the Matrix on it the other day.

I spooged.

It's worth getting just for the slightly creepy National Geographic Channel promos. Won't give too much away, but a hint: Extreme close-up on blinking human eyeball, with hugely magnified audio.

I spooged again.

But will an old TV that isn't HD ready let you watch the Foxtel HD channels?!? That's what I'm wondering.

Nope cause the Foxtel IQ2 HD model uses a HDMI connection, which only HD TV's have, so none of the Foxtel would work...

Ah, of course. Well then, it'll have to wait until I can afford a new TV if they show additional games on the HD channel.

Checked the online ESPN guide, looks like the first game will be Suns vs Spurs on the 30th. Assuming Fox Sports will be showing regular season games, we should get the opener: either Celtics/Cavs or Blazers/Lakers. It's doubtful they'd show the entire doubleheader so my guess is Celtics/Cavs.

How did you check so far ahead? Are you able to check the ESPNHD schedule to see if they have double headers in HD?

These listings usually have at least the month in advance, at present they've only got listings through October. I ran a search on ESPN HD Australia and the same game came up, it'll be worth checking out again next month since they should have the November and possibly the December listings up by then.

It's quite likely there won't be any difference as far as the NBA broadcast schedule, or the times they have any extra coverage on HD will be few and far between. On the bright side, what you do get will look spectacular. ;)

There's nothing in the magazine guide apart from the Suns/Spurs game, but it's never the most accurate piece of literature. Will keep an eye on the onscreen guide.

EDIT: Just noticed in the magazine guide that the USPGA Justin Timberlake Open will be running from October 17th-20th on FS1. Let's not miss that.

ESPN has online listings through November.

October 30th @ 11:00 AM: Suns vs Spurs
November 1st @ 1:30 PM: Spurs vs Blazers
November 6th @ 11:30 AM: Bulls vs Cavs
November 8th @ 12:00 PM: Heat vs Spurs
November 13th @ 2:30 PM: Rockets vs Suns
November 15th @ 2:30 PM: Pistons vs Lakers
November 20th @ 12:00 PM: Mavericks vs Rockets
November 22nd @ 1:30 PM: Hornets vs Thunder
November 27th @ 11:30 AM: Magic vs Sixers
November 29th @ 2:30 PM: Mavericks vs Lakers

Hopefully Fox Sports will be back for some more variety during the regular season. A glance at ESPN Australia HD reveals that at least through the first month of the season, they won't be showing any additional games.

Not a bad lineup. Great that we're seeing 3 of the top 4 draft picks within the first month of the season. Add to that some Fox Sports games and we've got some pretty decent well-rounded coverage.

It's not bad for ESPN Australia, fourteen different teams in ten games. They've gone with their old standards in the Heat, Spurs and Suns but I like the matchups they're showing.

Missed that one, that's what I get for not checking the Foxtel guide. Foxtel's online guide is listing the following pre-season games:

Wednesday, October 15th @ 11 PM: Bucks vs Warriors
Thursday, October 16th @ 8 PM: Bucks vs Warriors (Replay)
Saturday, October 18th @ 6:30 AM: Wizards vs Hornets
Saturday, October 18th @ 2:30 PM: Bucks vs Warriors
Saturday, October 18th @ 7:00 PM: Wizards vs Hornets (Replay)
Saturday, October 19th @ 9:00 PM: Bucks vs Warriors (Replay)

Interesting situation with the schedule Foxtel is showing. The onscreen guide shows the Suns vs the Spurs starting at 11 AM AEDT on Thursday on ESPN and ESPN HD, which is backed up by the online guide on the Foxtel website. However, there's a discrepency in the Saturday listings; onscreen, it's Bulls vs Celtics starting at 11 AM AEDT but the Foxtel website has the Spurs/Blazers game starting at 1:30 PM AEDT. Both games are ESPN broadcasts so either seems possible at this stage, though the ESPN International Listings also show Bulls/Celtics so it seems the most likely.

No games on Fox Sports as yet.
