Thanks for all the comments, guys :)!

A short recap here, basically going to be the case for all my simmed/intervened games.

Harpring breaks out of slump, scores 28 as Jazz rally past 'Cats

November 1, 2002

Boxscore

Utah 101, Charlotte 96

CHARLOTTE (AP) -- Matt Harpring's just glad that he's broken through.

Harpring filled the stat-sheet with 28 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 2 blocks as the Utah Jazz (3-0) overcame an early 12-point deficit to expansion team Charlotte Bobcats in their very first game back in Charlotte after the relocation of the Hornets to New Orleans.

Glen Rice gave a blast from the past, scoring a game-high 37 points with four threes, and added 7 rebounds and 7 assists, but after the first quarter where the Bobcats had started fast on the back of a raucous crowd, the Jazz always looked the better team.

"We didn't play at our best today, but we pulled ourselves to victory. Matt settled in well today and we got good support from John and Karl like always." said Jerry Sloan.

"I struggled in my first games for the Jazz, but I'm happy that I played well today, got the money off the back after signing that contract and now I can focus on helping the team win." said Harpring.

John Stockton had 20 points and 6 assists for the Jazz and Karl Malone had 25 points and 13 rebounds, but it was Harpring who got most of the plays in the last quarter. They weren't exactly isolation plays either: a majority of them came from off Sloan's offensive sets, getting Harpring open for mid-range jumpshots coming off screens.

"I found my shot at the right time in the last quarter and I got into a groove." said Harpring.

For the Bobcats, it was a little disappointing. After being blown out in Boston in their first game (a 114-74 loss), they received good support from their home crowd, and a performance from Glen Rice that might've been nostalgic to some Hornets fans watching.

Rice spent perhaps his best three seasons in Charlotte, earning All-Star status in all three. Picked up by the Bobcats in the expansion draft, he returned to Charlotte with a standing ovation, and proceeded to light up the stage in the first quarter. He had 15 of his 37 by the end of the quarter, including an 8-0 run where he brushed up two threes and a massive dunk past Harpring in transition.

"It was fun tonight playing back in Charlotte and scoring 37. But I'm disappointed that we couldn't get the win." Rice said.

As it turned out in the end, the Jazz were just the better team.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Utah Jazz preview

Sorry about these sporadic updates, but I don't have much time on my hands these days (mainly tests), so I'll try chug them out whenever I can. The recap should be coming up, and I'm five games ahead right now.

4-0. Nice start! (Y) Will be interesting when you face some harder competition.

Good to see you updating this. So many bad dynasties these days. This one is definitely one of my faves. (way better than Oskar's retro dynasty)

This bitch is dead until further notice.

I've just had enough of dealing with Live's bullshit gameplay where the AI is capable of sinking a variety of pull-up jumpers, fadeaways, floaters in the lane, make adjusted layups, all under pressure or with in someone's face, which is made easier by how your AI-controlled teammates manage to block you as you try to run to cover them.

I've had enough of the total inability to run a realistic set on offence (which was how the Stockton and Malone era of the Jazz worked) where the best way to score is to pull some Freestyle moves, get inside and hit the Dunk button, and that the only way you can get past a defender is by jamming the freestyle stick randomly.

I've had enough of the fact that the referees call no fouls, even when you get into the lane and get massacred by three defenders jumping all over you. Then when you play defence, the AI immediately draws a foul and/or scores on you with a circus layup.

And this is the Live with essentially the best gameplay.

It's a shame, because I had high hopes for this dynasty. I was looking to produce a few more feature articles using new websites (CBS, Salt Lake Tribune), make a reasonably big deal and at the end of the season, try and import the 03 draft class to get the "remaining pieces of the puzzle" from that extremely talented 03 class.

Sorry guys.

Hmm, so apparently my rant just then was simply just a hissy fit/blowing some steam. When you play NBA Live and you take sports games seriously, it'll happen once in a while.

Either way, I'm back but I'm looking for some new ideas to implement into this dynasty. So far, I have the following in mind:

-ESPN.com previews and recaps for games that I play.

-A retro NBA.com recap circa 2003 for simulated games, as there aren't any fancy statistic sidebars.

-A Sports Illustrated cover and article (possible, if the Jazz play well).

-Salt Lake Tribune "opinion" articles.

-ESPN.com for news stories.

Basically what I'm asking for is any more stuff for me to try and design with my average Photoshop skills (editing HTML based off a pre-made template is very easy). Also, I'm asking for a way to make posting links to previews and recaps more eye-catching rather than a small one-sentence link:

Utah Jazz at Dallas Mavericks preview

Oh yes, I promise to get rid of that McDonalds Southern Style Chicken Sandwich ad soon too.

glad to hear you didn't pull the plug on this man (Y)

nice design ideas too; for your preview/recaps maybe put a request out in the Photoshop lounge for some retro-style title bars that you can make 'clickable' via html featuring the jazz ol' schoolers? oh and the McD's ad is awesome - pls keep!

looking fwd to the DAL showdown especially since NASHty is still around; and of course that legendary matchup - Osterf.. vs. Bradley - oh SNAP!!!

AK47's quietly on pace to make the All-Star team (Y) good luck in the rematch but i really don't see the outcome being much different

NBA.com: Dallas Mavericks at Utah Jazz recap (simmed)

Clutch, I'll be simming the game but the Mavs are stacked so...:(

Fresh/Sit, thanks! It doesn't actually require much skill, just opening an HTML document and modifying it through trial-and-error. Mostly guesswork ;)

Excellent Recap considering it was just a simmed game.. The Mavs Big 3 really killed you on this one... I like the retro site thing... Keep it up!
