Is There a way to convert NBA LIVE 08 files or the NLSC ROster to 2005? or convert the 07 NLSC Roster to 2005?

Yes, but it's a little complicated. You'll need the fields to match before you copy over the records, and you have to make sure that the RECOVRDATE is Number so it works in Dynasty/Season mode.

Then you'll need to convert appearance.dbf, which requires matching fields again. These two are the essential files, you can use the .dbfs from another roster as a fill-in.

conversions are lazy... Just make it from scratch. It comes out better that way!

Actually, I'd say conversions are the smarter way to go, at least if you're updating multiple games in the series. Traditionally I've preferred to make updates from scratch but having tried to maintain three different updates just this offseason I can say without hesitation that if you can get a conversion to work properly, it's a lot better when you're working with multiple games.

I can see your point having to make so many roster updates at once. But the thing I do not like about conversions is that many people take the lazy way out and just throw together a converted roster and players end up with inflated attributes. I have never been saticfied with EA's rendition of most players abilities. Most times I feel they just make what they think will sell the game. I like player ratings to be more down to earth and reasonable. Most of the players I rate are below what most people might think they should be. But it adds to the realism and challange of the game.
Happy patching home boyzzz....lol

True, conversions can be done very poorly. At the very least they can save time though, if you're willing to put in the work on the converted roster and make modifications as necessary.
