'97 T-Wolves | Monthly recap - Oct. & Nov. (end?)

    INFORMATION
This dynasty will have practically just one unique side, that is, that it's 97/98 season. I'll play on NBA Live 07, and the rosters I use don't have free agents, so I'll just try to pass the first season, then we'll have many free agents. If you wonder why I started another dynasty, then besides my unhealthy obsession against writing dynasties, was that I lost all my saves, so I didn't have my old dynasties, rosters, nothing. I hope you enjoy it, I'll not give my best, but bestest, I think.

    DYNASTY INFORMATION
Team: Minnesota Timberwolves
Head coach: Flip Saunders
Salary cap: 29.06M
Arena: Target Center

    DYNASTY SETTINGS

Sim quarter length: 12 minutes
Playoff length: 7777
Simulation injuries: Yes
Quarter length: 8 minutes
Patches: 97/98 roster patch, shoe bug fix.

I'll play around 3-5 games every month and do game recaps for them, other games won't have recaps, but they'll be mentioned in the monthly recap. Before every month, there will be a " Top games to watch " post, and the games that I will play will be mentioned. I'll try to do as good as possible with the team, without tanking or anything.

I hope you like it, peace !

Iggy, Nah, I'll do recaps and stuff anyways, I'll do it like every other season, but I'll try to hurry a little bit. I can't play very well now, as I have some FPS lag. If you can help me about FPS lag, then check the topic under NBA Live 07 issues or something, I'd appreciate that.

Thank you. :)

Chris Bosh, I got them from NLSC downloads. 07 - Roster patches.

Looks good Oscar.
Good to see you starting another dynasty, too bad you couldn't continue the Nets one or the 76ers one that never started.

Interesting idea. One question: Do you have real draft classes? Re-entering the 1998 draft would be awesome.

Good luck.

Besides that, good luck man, hopefully you can do better with KG and Marbury than they did in real life.

Crimson Penguin, Thanks. :) I would've probably continued with the Sixers if I've had both, but I think I'll enjoy this one.

Lamrock, I didn't do it. I'd LOVE to do so myself, so every draft class would be real, but I don't know how to do so. If someone can help me with that as well, I'd most likely go with that. Thank you as well.

Chaser7, I'll try, thanke.

    Training camp period

Random day at the training camp.

" I see that you've done good job with Stanley, Noah. " said Flip Saunders, while the team was doing suicides.

" Yes, he and Stephon have done the best so far, I've tried to improve Garnett as well, but I haven't got much out of him. Gugliotta isn't in the best shape either. " answered Noah.

" Hmm, " Saunders thought, looking at the players running the suicides. " Will you give them any more tasks today ? Let them play a little game or something. "

" No, sir. We haven't played yet, and we.. we will not, today, u-unless you want me to make them play. " stammered Pena, sounding a little bit scared.

" Make them play tomorrow morning when you see me here, I'd like to make some decisions. " said Saunders.

Afterwards.

" Hey, Kevin ! " Saunders shouted as McHale was leaving his office to go home.

McHale stopped, looked back and started walking towards Flip Saunders.

" Hey, what's up ? " Kevin McHale enquired.

" I'd like you to come to the gym, tomorrow morning at 10. I'd like you to see everyone's shape, how they get along and stuff. Then you can make your decisions about the team. I've heard some bad news about Googs not being in a good shape. As much as I saw him doing the suicides, it didn't look like he'd even try hard. " said Flip.

" Alright, I'll be there to make my decisions. I'll keep an serious eye on Gugliotta then, see if he's ready to be a champ or not. See ya tomorro', Flip ! " told McHale.

" Later. "

Next day.

" Hey, sorry, I was a little bit late, traffic jam. " said Flip, as McHale and Pena were already watching the game.

" That's cool, " said McHale while making room on the bench for Saunders. " You were quite right about Gugliotta, he's not putting too much effort in the game and he isn't a natural either. He's quite struggling shooting the ball, takes some time to get up and down the court and the problems continue. That's just one game though. "

At the same time, Garnett threw down a sick reverse slam.

" OOOOH ! " came from the bench with some little laughter.

KG and Stephon did a high five afterwards.

" Those two get along nicely ? " asked Flip.

" Yeah, they get along very nicely. " told McHale.

" Alright, we'll see if it all pans out. "

Iggy, I don't remember all surely, but I can say that they're all too high, and some are too low. The ones I do remember:

Stanley Roberts - 68
Tom Gugliotta - 79
Kevin Garnett - 94
Anthony Peeler - 72
Stephon Marbury - 87

Then uhm..
Cherokee Sparks - 64
Reggie Jordan - 52
Doug West - 62
Terry Porter - around 76 or smth
Tom Hammonds - 69
Sam Mitchell - 68

Should be something like that.

PS: Wow, I remembered them all.

Clutch, I guess so. I don't like Googs too much, I could get a 2.5 SF for him, which is what I need, and then play KG at 4. I'll see about the moves, though. Well, about Steph, I say I probably go the different with him, I'll not have problems and such, so he'll be clear with probs. I'll make him more of a passer, too.

    Catching up with Stephon Marbury

Image

MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 26, 1997 (AP) -- Draft, offseason transactions, retirements and even the training camp, everything is done. Just a few days, and the regular season begins. Timberwolves.com decided to spend some time with Timberwolves' starting guard, Stephon Marbury, to ask about his thoughts about the team.

Q: Not much has been heard about you during the summer. You didn't play in the summer league or anything. What have you been up to ?

A: Ah, it's been a busy summer. I've been training a lot, tried to get quicker, stronger, faster, and overall, just better. I practiced my passing skills like a lot, I'll try to feed other players more than score on my own this year, so I'll have to feed Big KG, Googs, everyone who is ready to score.

Q: You averaged almost 16-8 last year, are you going to try 20-10 this year ?

A: Nah, man. I mean, of course, it would be quite nice, but it doesn't really matter to me that much, I'll try to set plays for my teammates and myself, but teammates come first for me.

Q: There are other young players, similar to you. Who would you say is your biggest rival ?

A: Definitely AI. I mean, he's a dazzling player, he's quick, he's all you can ask from a guy like him. I mean, he's barely 6 feet tall and he's playing amazing. Me and him have a possible very long rivalry, you know what I mean.

Q: How's the team gelling together ? Do you have a good chemistry ?

A: We all get along quite nicely. But it's Googs and Cherokee. Tom is quite out of shape, tries to do what he can't and wants too much, so the real Gugliotta is quite gone now, I don't get along with him too much. Cherokee is annoying sometimes. None likes him, I'm sure he'll not be with us this season, unless the coach will not know about that issue.

Q: What do you think about yourself ? I've heard some people think you're a soft competitor and a hogger.

A: I have to say that's a misconception by them. It's not really nice to know that people think that way about me, but it doesn't disconcert me when I'm playing.

Q: If you're not soft and a hogger, then what ?

A: (laughs) I'm a big time competitor, and a team player who likes to create his own shot. I shot over 40% last year, I don't think that's bad. I'll probably pass even more this season. It all depends on the situations, though.

Q: Do you think you're the best Timberwolf and the captain of the team ?

A: No. It's KG.

Q: But would you like to be ?

A: You know, with team leading there's a big responsibility, but if I'm given the task to ever do it, I definitely do that. I think I could do that.

Q: Appreciate for the information, good luck with the season. See you !

A: No problem's. Peace out.

October/November top Timberwolves' games to watch
    10/05/97 - Image vs. Image
Even though it's not a road game, Wolves have to play 6 days straight, and this is the last game of the 6 day streak. The Wolves will play against Jason Kidd and Antonie McDyess, but also other key players of the Suns, such as Cliff Robinson, Cedric Ceballos, Kevin Johnson, Danny Manning and Steve Nash. As the tired Wolves play 5 days before that game, the rested Suns have 3 free days before the game, as they'll play against the Denver Nuggets on the 1st.

    11/14/97 - Image vs. Image
Last year Allen Iverson proved to be better than Stephon Marbury, as he won the ROTH award, we'll see how well they will do, playing against each other on the 14th. It's not just about Iverson, though, as there's Derrick Coleman, Jerry Stackhouse, Clarence Weatherspoon, Jimmy Jackson and a bunch of useful roleplayers coming from the bench. It's quite predictable, that the 76ers will focus on offense more, and vice-versa with the Timberwolves, who have good stoppers in the post, Garnett and Roberts, but can they keep up with Allen Iverson, who can't even be caught by the speed of sound ? We'll see about that.

    11/26/97 - Image vs Image
The question is, how will the Timberwolves deal with the magnificent duo of veterans and future Hall of Famers, John Stockton and Karl Malone. While the veterans are one of the greatest players in their positions to ever play the game, the duo of the Wolves' young calibers, Stephon Marbury at the 1 guard position and Kevin Garnett playing either 3 or 4, isn't much different from the Jazz duo. Yet, then the experience comes in the story, and the youngsters have to give their best on the road, which might make the task even harder.

homicide1550, Thanks mate.

The problem is, all the rules, jerseys, courts, team names, locations, east-west stuff, it's all like now. Just the rosters were changed.

So, that means, that all the changes that were made in the 11 years, or is it 10, whatever, are made right after 96-97 season in this dynasty. Except the coaches, though.
