Allan Houston attempting comeback (again)

Postby Andrew on Mon Sep 08, 2008 2:04 pm

Last year's attempt didn't go to plan but Allan Houston is giving it another shot.
Allan Houston appears to be attempting yet another return to the NBA as a member of the Knicks, according to Newsday,

The former All-Star shooting guard, 37, has been working out and playing all summer and has reportedly spoken with New York GM Donnie Walsh about an invitation to training camp.

If he wants to give it a shot, more power to him but I don't think the Knicks are going to be his best shot. It would seem he still favours the Knicks above everyone else but if he's serious about playing in the NBA again perhaps he'd do better to make a pitch to some other teams as well.

this reminds me of last year when reggie and houston both were considering to become the celtics. they'd be happy now with rings if they ever did. i never was a fan of houston, but i like this guy still being loyal to the team that treated him right altho NY is a shit team atm.

it would be better if he would go to a veteran team, namely boston, spurs and the like... he would be utilized much better like what boston did with PJ brown.. new york is rebuilding, not much of a comeback there...

I guess he just feels a certain sense of loyalty to New York given the money they invested him and the fact he spent most of his career there.

that's great. it shows how much of his heart is still with ny. that was sad days when isiah blamed team's devastating losing season on Allan and his big payroll. and then a few later, he signed marbury and zach. good thing he got fired. and if he ever comes back, ny fans will love him no matter wut. maybe fans will stop booing when he's on court. that's one other way to shut crowd up.

I don't know about that, there might be some residual resentment over his big contract back in the day though that's management's blunder. Few people would turn down $20 million per year.

haha... hope not. allan i knew was a great guy on and off the court, great role model player who sets examples for teammates. guess $20 mil was too big to turn down for him. but i for one wanted to see him playing well after injury, but was sad his best days were already far behind him.

if he is physically able, i'd like to see him make it happen.

he's the one bright spot from my college that made it big in the L, and i'd like to see him get that elusive ring.

San Antonio would be a good fit considering the Manu injury
