Players Overall Rating of 1

Does anyone else have heaps of players in dynasty mode with an OVERALL rating of 1....how is that even possible and why are they even in the game? noone would ever sign them. and some of them are getting like 4.5million dollars.

Are they generated rookies or what? And do they have all ratings set to 1 (FG, 3PT etc) or only the overall?

Short answer, NBA Live 08 PC probably has more bugs than any other game in the series.

nah their ratings are set to 0 !!! and then an overall of 1. and its not just a few players......ITS HEAPS of them. yeah they are rookies. but im only in the first year of dynasty....its annoying coz its heaps of young players that i cant sign coz they seem so shit. im tempted to sign one and see if they perform like a overall 1 rating.
also is there any way to change a players contract before it expires.... i looked at my upcoming free agents and in year four i got like 6 guys all off control. alll top players. theres no way i can sign them all...ill be lucky to get ONE. so is there a way to increase their contract during the season?

Yes, you can edit the salary length and contract size in players.dbf. Be sure to make a backup before you open the files though in case something goes wrong.

The easiest way to edit the databases is with DB Commander, which you can find in our Downloads section. Once you open the players.dbf file you'll see that each column has a label (PLAYERID, NICKNAMEID, etc). The columns you're looking for are CASH_YEAR and YEARSLEFT. Check out the DBF Editing Guides over on the main site for more info.

so theres no way to do it without editing? im just not to keen on editing because i dont want my game to crash. coz ive had issues with it in previous nba live titles even without editing them. so far this is going alright....if i do edit it will that work for my current dynasty? or do i need to start a new one? and can u make their salaries really low to lower ur salary cap? or doesnt that work?

Correct, the only way is to edit the databases. You should be able to edit a Dynasty in progress but you should definitely make a backup first in case something happens.

And yes, you could lower all your players' salaries so that you're under the cap.

ok i might have to give it a try, hopefully nothing goes wrong lol. the figures arent in millions though? its like 16123 or so...i assume thats 16,123,000?
i might lower them a little bit just so i have some room to work with, no point making their salaries like 1 dollar because its too unrealistic.
thanks for ur help andrew.

I created a player, 5'1'', all ratings 1. Went to induvidual practise and the guys was dunking, shooting threes. It was weird. The dunks especially, with his jumping and dunking rated 1..

The dunk rating isn't really responsible for the dunks that player can perform. The dunk packages are. The only role that dunk rating has in this is that more dunk packages are available for the player when he has higher dunk rating.
