PROBLEM INSTALLING THE GAME

I just got the PC version and I am 67 % of the way through the installation.

All of a sudden it give this message: A problem occurred when trying to transfer the file 'D:\render\igfont\english\xfonts.viv' from the media. Do you want to retry to copy the file, or cancel the installation?

What the heck?

What am I supposed to do? I tried Retry and it does nothing.

Clean the CD and make sure there is no dirt on it. If you can, clean your drive or try installing from a second CD drive, if you have one.

If all that fails, try to make an image of your CD with CloneCD or Nero (they could possible correct that error) and mount that image with DaemonTools, then install from there.

In any case I would try to get the CDs replaced.

Go get an exchange at the store you bought it from.

^What do you mean make an image of my CD? please go into detail. I've waited 8 months for this game and I am not ready for some stupid minor file to F up my installation.

Also, I got it off Amazon, so I can't really return it.

Does anyone know?

Is this on disk 1 or disk 2?

I was having a similar problem when I was asked to insert disk 2. It eventually worked after I closed all of my background applications, like Anti Virus.

This was on Disk 2. 67 % of the way through.

I closed everything, every possible program, and still it's messed up.

Also, did you restart your installation when you had the problem, or did you just close background programs?

put da game in ur drive. restart comp. wait till the autopop thing comes click on install and DO NOT run any other programz

OK, but are u sure that the 'D:\render\igfont\english\xfonts.viv' error will be fixed that i had experienced before once i restart my comp?

i think it could be but u always have ea sports technical support

Sounds to me like part of that disk is dirty/damaged etc. It gets to that file and tries to copy it but it can't copy it so it gives an error. It's happened to me before on scratched disks and stuff (it doesn;t sound like a software thing to me!)

I don't know how the disk can be scratched, it's brand new. hehehe

And how do I log in on Safe Mode?

If you can't read from the disc, and you're sure it's not your fault (ie try on other computers to see if you get the same error) the disc is most likely defective.

Just return it for an exchange.

The reason why I say this is because I had a similar problem. My Disc 2 was defective. I would get up to 99%, and one of the last files to be copied was unreadable from the CD. I took my copy back to the store, and had them exchange it. This time, Disc 1 was a little off-center (my cdrw drive gave off a god-awful hum...) but Disc 2 was fine. Finally got the game installed.

Yes, Amazon allows you to return defective merchandise for exchange.
EA also handles this directly with customers, but I believe they charge something like $7.50.

I went to install it and it got to 100% done and a error message came up that says " A PROBLEM OCCURED WHEN TRYING TO TRANSFER THE FILE 'E :/scripter\xscripts.viv FROM THE MEDIA. DO YOU WANT TO RETRY TO COPY THE FILE, OR CANCEL THE INSTALLATION? I've tryed to install it several times and it won't work.
