Metal Gear Solid 4

I've heard it's been getting rave reviews and I want listen what you guys think of the game, so I am contemplating whether or not I should invest into getting such a game. I like the Metal Gear series, although I've only played Solid so far...

Seen some spoiler videos in YouTube, and aside from the other games that I missed in the past, MGS4 is a game that I'm hoping to play soon.

One thing I heard about it that it's the last MGS game in the series, or then again, just one of Kojima's schemes.

LOL once you play mgs4, it's really hard to downgrade to game like battlefield bad company or other shooter games. Mgs4 graphic just shit all over them.

I bet most game developer out can do better than Crysis graphic if they just want to show off graphic rather than putting a game out there for everyone to be able to play it.

I'm also considering getting it, although what is stopping me right now is the fact that I haven't played any of the previous games in the series.. Is this a prerequisite, or is it enough just reading up a little on the previous games?

Also: Does the game support the Dual Shock 3? And the new trophy's feature?

It's a direct sequel to MGS2. With some of the events and characters from MGS3 (the prequel to all games in the series) leading to MGS4.

The first metal gear I played was on N64 and thats it. I was also worried that I won't know whats happening but mgs4 did a good job on having flashback that you can view. Theres also a downloadable MGS4 database which contain encyclopedia, timeline, characters and more about all the mgs seires.

I'm not on the forums very often, but how has this game not been talked about more? Everybody either absolutely loves this game and says its the best ever, or like me thinks that Hideo should be shot for making an amazing game really gay and overdramatic.

People praise this game for being so ''artsy'' so ''epic'' so ''legendary'' blah blah blah. This game is gay and is so freakin overdramatic that I'm kind of amazed so many people like it. I played MGS2 and 3 both within the last year to get ready for MGS4. And even those games had some pretty gay shit in it. But in all I really liked and enjoyed the games. But MGS4 had to absolutely ruin my respect for the makers of the series.

Where the hell do I start. First off when I say how gay the game is, I mean all the stupid shit only a japanese person like Hideo Kojima would put into a game. No offense to Japanese people or anything, but like how many people think all the little cinematics with grown men crying, or little jokes that are horribly not funny, and shit like that are cool? It's the little things that piss me off about this game the most. Things like how they make that Akiba so gay, that it's supposed to be funny, or how everything in this game tries to be so deep. I can't even recall most of those little things that pissed me off since I haven't played the game in so long. But I remember playing the game for the first time, and everytime one of those gay things would happen I'd say to myself "why the hell did you add that in there?" Like Sunny and the eggs at the beginning of every briefing, man you are so fucken deep you artistic legend you. You are a genius.

I really could go on for so much longer about those little gay things that we're added into the game. But I just can't, it hurts me a little.

The other main thing that pissed me off about this game is the long cutscenes. Don't get me wrong, this games graphics and gameplay are amazing. There's nothing like knocking on a wall waiting for an enemy soldier to investigate and then CQCing his ass from behind (btw that's one of the gay things that pisses me off, how everyone calls it CQC in the game. Like when Snake first meets Meryl, and she says''CQC you're a real Big Boss aren't you?'' God kill me now). But the problem is after the first half of the game you are barely even playing. It turns into all cutscenes. In total I think there would easily be like 10 hours of cutscenes all together. The first half of the game is pretty fun, but it just turns so gay after that. Oh and the ending, wow. You think the game is over after an hour long cutscene, but no it keeps going. Credits role along and you say "thank God it's over" WRONG. Another DEEP cinematic, credits come along again. NOPE still not done after the second bit of credits. My last say 5 hours of playing the game we're probably 90% cutscenes right there alone.

Now the main basic plot of the story is pretty sick, good ending to the series, but you didn't have to make the cutscenes so freakin long. There was no need. Why put so much detail into perfecting the gameplay and making it so good and then make the player not even be able to play it that much the first time through (the actual gameplay that is, not the parts where your "kinda" playing, people that played the game know what I mean). What makes all this worse is the fact that everything is so overdramatic and overdone in the cutscenes.

K so I talked about the parts only a retarded loser like Hideo would put in, the overdramatic overkill of cutscenes, what else is there... ahh the overhype of this game. Most sites and reviewers gave this game a 10 in everything. Really? I know they're just reviewers, and usually I don't expect much or think much about the reviews. But cmon does this game deserve a 10 for lasting apeal? Really? 15 hour game (don't you dare say well there's the online part too) gets a 10 lasting apeal and then a game like COD4 where some people have put 60 fucken DAYS into (what is wrong with them?!) doesn't even get a 10 for lasting appeal. It's actually amazing how inconsistent review scores are. And how alot of people go only by review scores too. Like if someone (like me) is beaking a game a game (like this one), peoples comebacks are "who cares what you think, this game got 10's all around the world...." Oh you proved me wrong, you're right this game is amazing.

Anyways I'm probably missing a bunch of shit that I hate about this game but w/e, you get the point. I just wanted to post on here to see if there were other people that felt the same about this game. Afew of my friends are just like me and feel the same. If I were to play this game over again (which I'm sure I will) I can tell you I'd skip most if not all of the cutscenes and cinematics.

So yea anybody out there like me?
