Just to be clear, as I'm not that much into RPGs, but is Diablo III similar to WoW?

I haven't played WoW but the Diablo series has been into the hack-and-slash type of RPG's.

Teh Mistress of Pain looks painful. I missed Duriel. Damn that boss.

No, Diablo is a dungeon crawler. WoW is more like an interactive world with a community, where as Diablo people just group up to shit on some demons while seeing who can get the coolest magical weapon.

Honestly I'd like to play this game again, and hopefully I could skip the Kurast forest part in Act III. I just hate the small critters in the forest.

Act III in D2 drags the patience out of me. That act annoys me.

Tal Rasha's Tomb is the most annoying Act II area for me. Just suck because of the narrow pathways connecting the platforms.

In related Diablo news, Blizzard released patch 1.12 for Diablo 2 (orig. and expansion) which makes the game run with no CD required once a complete install is made and patched.
Diablo II Ladder Reset and 1.12a Patch - Nebu
The Diablo II ladder has been reset, wiping the slate clean and beginning the rush to be the first to level 99! In addition to the reset we’ve also released Diablo II patch 1.12a, which removes the requirement to have your Diablo II CD in the drive while playing. To download the patch either connect to Battle.net or visit our Patch Download page, and be sure to read the Patch Notes for further instructions.

No character class updates so far. Fingers crossed for the Pally.

EDIT: Read at that link you gave about the "D3 is too colorful" controversy, wherein the color is much saturated compared to D2, and the people from the D3 team responded with this:

Apparently there are rumors that the secret level of D3 is something like that, colorful with rainbow-unicorns.

I like that shirt. :(
