At the end of the article they mentioned the clause in his contract where in the next two summers he could return to the NBA. Why? If, and thats a big IF, he signs over there he's commiting suicide in the NBA becuase in the next two summers no one will be jumping to sign always solid Josh Childress when there are much bigger fish in the pond for them to go after.

I hope he stays in the NBA, his game is so balanced its fun to watch.

If he and Josh Smith both leave, the Hawks will go back to being an atrocity. And with JJ, Bibby and Claxton's contracts, I don't think they would even have any cap space to show for it.

With every single team having their eyes on 2010, wouldn't it be funny if LeBron got a bigger offer in Europe?

I seriously doubt LeBron would play in Europe. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Cavs find a way to re-sign him and resolve things. Then again, there are plenty of teams like the Nets, Knicks, Oklahoma City, etc. that are just hoping that James decides to opt-out of his contract and become a free agent so that they have a realistic shot at landing him.

I am really hoping he stays in the NBA. But as we all know playing basketball is their profession and money plays a major part on their decisions.

And I agree with lamrock that if Smith and Childress leaves the Hawks, they will probably reclaim their spot in the standings as the NBA’s top bottom dwellers.. :mrgreen:

it's a pretty nice deal that childress has.... going over to europe and experiencing the world while making 20 million dollars.... they have no tax over there (irs has income tax for us citizens though) and they provide basic necessities such as a car, a house, and bills.... plus the euro is strong and it's not like the competition is crap over there.... a couple of years and he could probably create a legacy over in the euroleague and hey, even if he doesn't like it over there , he's still made 20 million and can return to the nba albeit a smaller or minimum contract at the age of 28 barring serious injury.... sounds like a pretty good deal to me....

No doubt it's a move meant to put pressure on the Hawks but it sounds like he's serious about playing in Greece if a deal isn't made.

He might be the first american born player to go overseas. Of course you cant count international players coming to the NBA and then going back, or players who were born in america, that went overseas because they couldnt get a job in the NBA.

there's more than a few players that ends up playing in europe or overseas. one of them was khalid el amin. players who gets no interests from nba teams often get exported to overseas.

but a quality players like childress is bit of a surprising story compared to those who were sent to overseas. that is if he decides to go europe.
