Yao, Pau & Kobe-- Lightin' up LA

Postby SoukpBulldzers03 on Tue Jul 22, 2008 3:30 am

Hey. Decided to try this just for fun.

In my first season this is how things went.

Before the season started I traded Kwame Brown and Sasha Vujajic to Memphis for Pau Gasol.
I also cut Maurice Evans.

Then I started the season in Rookie Mode.
About half way through the season I thought it was too easy so I moved up to starter.
Then with about 15 games left or so in the season I moved up to All Star.
I finished the regular season 77-5 with this line-up.

Starters
P. Gasol
L. Odom
V. Radmonovic (65 of 82 games)
K. Bryant
D. Fisher (75 of 82 games)

Bench Players
J. Farmar
J. Crittenton
R. Turiaf
B. Cook
A. Bynum
L. Walton
C. Mihm
E. House (2 games)

I swept Memphis in the first round 4-0
I handled Houston 4-1 losing only game 4.
I had plenty of close games with Phoenix yet sweeping them 4-0
Won the NBA Title 4-1 beating Detroit after losing game 1.

I started season two by not resigning R. Turiaf or C. Mihm.
I did sign K. Humphries though in free agent signing.
With my two draft picks I snatched a SF and a SG.

I also got a whale of a deal by trading Lamar Odom and Kris Humphries to the Houston Rockets for Yao Ming.

My starting line-up
C- Y. Ming
PF- P. Gasol
SF- V. Radmonovic
SG- K. Bryant
PG- D. Fisher

Bench
SF-Luke Walton
PG- Javaris Crittenton
PG- Jordan Farmar
C- Andrew Bynum
PF- Brian Cook

Deep Bench:
SF- Homid Best (CPU Rookie)
SG- Reuben Becker (CPU Rookie)

I'll try to keep you updated as much as possible and I hope to hear about your NBA Live dynastys also!!!

Update-
TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE
November 22, 2008
Philadelphia, PA- Lakers held on to beat the 76ers 69-61 after a hard fought come back attempt by the 76ers that was too little, too late. The 76ers led after 5 minutes by four but at the half it was L.A. with the advantage. The Lakers played shut down defense in the third holding Philidelphia to only 9 points to grab a 17 point lead.
In the fourth in was Philidelphia who played hard defense but it was not enough. With a little over a minute and a half they brought the lead down to 64- 61 but couldn't put the ball in the bucket from there losing the game 69-61.
The loss brings Philidelphia to 4-8 on the season and boosts the Lakers win streak to 10 making them the only undefeated team so far this season.

Kobe Bryant was player of the game with 26 points, 3 boards, and as many assists, shoooting 10 of 18 from the field. Yao Ming added 14 points and 9 rebounds in his tenth game of the season with Los Angeles. Andre Miller led the game with 28 points and star shooting guard Andre Iguadola was held to only 11 points.

Update-

PARKER AND COMPANY NOT ENOUGH
November 24, 2008
Toronto, Ontario, Canada- Los Angeles added yet another game to their win total bringing them up to 11-0 on the season. They took a close game against the Toronto Raptors in Canada. The game came right down to the wire with the game tied at 67 a piece. The Lakers went to Kobe Bryant to get a bucket and the Raptors then tied the game back up. With 45 seconds to go, Bryant took the inbounds pass and ran up the court for a basket giving L.A. a two point advantage. Tony Parker got doubled on the other end throwing up a 7 footer over 7 foot 6 Yao Ming which didn't fall and L.A. came up with the rebound and got fouled sending number 24 to the line. He missed both free throws but Pau Gasol grabbed the rebound and sent the ball through the hoop with a turn around jumper giving Los Angeles the lead 73-69. With 18 seconds to go Toronto's Molina threw up a 3 pointer with 14 seconds left over Javaris Crittenton but it didn't fall and Yao Ming snatched the board and threw an outlet to Luke Walton who was fould immediately. He sank both free throws and the Lakers won by a final of 75-69. Toronto fell the 4-9 on the season.

Kobe Bryant was player of the game posting 28 points, 4 boards, 8 assists, and a steal. Bryant shot 13 of 22 from the floor, yet shooting only 50 percent going 2 of 4 from the charity stripe. The dominant force of Yao and Pau combined for 37 points and 20 rebounds. Yao posted another double double with 15 and 11. The big off season trade sending Tony Parker to Toronto was well worth it tonight as Parker had a game high 37 points with 5 assists. He shot a horrid 3 of 10 from downtown while the Raptors as a team shot 3 of 12 from deep.

Update-

LAKERS TAME GRIZZLIES
November 26, 2008
Los Angeles, CA- The Los Angeles Lakers wiped out the Memphis Grizzlies in the first game back at the Staples Center after a long and diffucult road journey. Memphis seemed to have it under control after jumping to an early 6 -2 start, but then they spiraled out of control losing the game 81-61. "It just wasn't our night.'' said Memphis small forward Mike Miller. "We couldn't get our shots to fall and they just simply out-hustled us all game."

Kobe Bryant was voted Player of the Game dropping 27 points, 3 boards, eight assists, and four steal along the way. Kobe's free throw line struggles were shown once again shooting 50% from the charity stripe tonight, but he did shoot 13/ 21 from the field. Once again the dynamic duo of Yao and Pau controlled the paint with Gasol grabbing 12 rebounds and Yao finding 5. Pau Gasol had recorded a double double by the end of the third quarter with 18 points and 10 rebounds. He end the night with 20 and 12. Rudy Gay was the high man for Memphis with 15 points, but he only shot 20% from downtown. Bargnani posted a double double with ten and ten in Memphis' losing effort.

Around the league many injuries have come about to the star players. Chris Paul had an injury last night and he will be out for five weeks. Mehmet Okur still has 13 days until he is back. Boston's Chris Duhon is out for 7 more days and Tayshaun Prince is coming back in six days after his week one injury.

LAKERS WIN HIGH-SCORING AFFAIR
November 28, 2008
Los Angeles, CA- Los Angeles extended their winning streak to 13 on Friday after beating the Spurs 94-82. The game was never really close after Los Angeles took a quick 22-12 lead in the first after 4 minutes. Here is what Kobe Bryant had to say. "We came out focused and intense and played hard for twenty minutes. Our defense wasn't real great tonight but we got the win and we will work on that in practice."

Pau Gasol was voted player of the game with 23 points on 11 of 13 from the floor. He added 3 boards and as many steals. Kobe Bryant and Yao Ming combined for 33 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. Tim Duncan had a season high 32 points and he pulled down 10 rebounds. Chirs Bosh added 28 points while Ginobili dropped in for 14. Udrih dished out an amazing 18 assists in the loss but only put in 2 points for himself. The ex-Laker Chris Mihm only played two minutes which was more than what he normally played back in Los Angeles. Up next for the Lakers are 7-10 Seattle SuperSonics.

YAO LEADS L.A. IN SLOPPY WIN
November 30, 2008
Los Angeles, CA- The Lakers improved to 14-0 on the season after a messy win against Seattle. The game was filled with mistakes but the Lakers capitalized early and Seattle couldn't come back. Up next for Los Angeles is the Jazz of Utah who stand at 8-9 looking to get back to .500. Expect the Lakers win streak to continue since they do not play a team .500 or better until the 16th of December when they match up against Dallas who currently sits on a 12-5 record.

Yao Ming had a spectacular game shooting a perfect 11 for 11, scoring 22 points and bringing in 12 rebounds. "I just felt great tonight shooting and they kept feeding me the ball so I kept putting them in." said Yao after being asked about his performance. Kobe dropped in 19 points and threw 7 assists while Gasol had another great night with 22 points and 7 boards. Luke Ridnour had a game high 35 points shooting a terrible 15 of 33. Delonte West had 14 points shooting 2 of 2 from long range. 2nd year, Small Forward Kevin Durant played only 7 minutes off the bench scoring four points and recording 3 rebounds.

Moments after the game the NBA announced a trade with Toronto and Milwaukee. The trade sent big man Andrew Bogut to Toronto in exchange for point guard TJ Ford.

Hey everybody!

I hope you enjoy my updates on the games.

Please leave some criticism on how to make these better, it would be much appreciated.

Also, I hate to apologize for this but being 14-0 its kinda boring to watch a team run the table. I've had the game in super star mode for 5 or 6 games now and I keep winning. I have all the sliders set to normal, so don't think I'm cheating.
Please leave some criticism on how to make this better and keep watching for updates along the way!!!

By the way. I think the trade recently made is completely whack. I would never give up Bogut for TJ Ford. I personally thinkg Bogut is way better than Ford, but the trade is out of my hands.

BUZZER BEATER!!
December 10, 2008
Los Angeles, CA- The Washington Wizards made a big splash in the NBA today by trading Gilbert Arenas to the Miami Heat for Richard Jefferson, just hours before the Wizards match against the undefeated Lakers. Jefferson was traded last season at the deadline by New Jersey for Dwayne Wade.

Richard Jefferson and the new-look Wizards came out looking strong against the Lakers taking an early 13-3 advantage. Then, to no surprise the Lakers came surging back to be down by one after 5 minutes and tied the game at 35 at the half. The Lakers took a 5 point lead heading into the fourth, so many believed the game to be over. They couldn't be any more wrong. The Wizards tied the game back up and went back and forth with the lead for most of the fourth and then took a 75-74 lead with 10 seconds 9 seconds left. Derek Fisher grabbed the in bounds pass and sprinted up court to call their final time out with 7.8 seconds left in the game. Coach Phil Jackson put Kobe in as the point guard and ahd Radmonovic throw him the ball on the in bounds. Kobe dribbled to the left then the right then left again with no where to go. He decided to go hard left then pulled back for a fade away jumper that sank with 0.1 left on the ticker to give Los Angeles a win. When asked after the game about the shot he said, "I just do what I'm told. When coach gives me the ball I do what I gotta do." And he did just that hitting his second game winning shot in the past two seasons on that same left side fade away.

Richard Jefferson dropped in 24 points in his Washington debut while Caron Butler scored a game high 30 points and pulled down 7 rebounds, which is astounding for the small shooting guard. Gasol and Ming combined for 32 points and 18 rebounds as Gasol recorded yet another double double. The win brings Los Angeles to 19 wins with a goose egg on the loss side and drops Washington to a disappointing 7-14. Los Angeles' next game is against the Clippers who have improved to being over .500.

The writing itself isn't bad, and while 19-0 is unrealistic, it just means that you aren't simming games, like most of us dynasty makers do. If you use a PC, then you should try to add screenshots to your recaps. If not, I would at least add some rich text, and maybe some NBA.com pics. Good luck with this either way.

Thanks lamrock. I'll see if I can find some nba.com pics since i use ps2. for some reason i feel that simming is kind of like cheating i'm not sure why but i probably wont sim any games in this dynasty but i was thinking of making a simulated dynasty and maybe i could post about that one.

GASOL PROVES PIVOTAL DOWN THE STRETCH
December 12, 2008
Los Angeles, CA- Pau Gasol led the Lakers to their 20th straight win of the season and 24th straight win, dating back to last year's post season. The Lakers started out very poorly losing the first quarter by 7 and the 3rd quarter by 2. They were down 54 to 45 after 15 minutes and looked like they would suffer their first loss of the season. Then, Pau scored 10 points in the final quarter ending with 24 total. The Lakers came back to score 30 in the final 5 minutes winnigng the game 75-68. Yao Ming only had 6 points, but pulled down 6 rebounds, adding 3 assists and 2 steals to his resume. Kobe Bryant had a game high 32 points with 8 assits and 4 steals. The Clippers crew was led by an unlikely hero, Shaun Livingston, who scored 25 points. Magette and Mobley each put in 11 but what may have cost the Clips the game was not they playing, but the lack of playing by Elton Brand. He only played 11 minutes, with only 1 minute in the first half. He was a complete non-contributer and this is what coach Dunleavy had to say, "Elton was only supposed to sit out a couple minutes just to have a breather, but with the play of (Chris) Kaman, we thought we had a better team out on the court with Elton on the bench." Most thought Elton suffered some type of injury, but there was none of the sort. The Lakers next game is on the 16th against the Mavericks.

December 16th, 2008
