"I'm happy to present to you my update on my sliders! This latest set has taken observations I've seen as well other board member comments into account. These sliders have made the game HARD for me, but I'm having fun getting beat for ONCE in a sports game! Some notes before the numbers....
-Remember, sliders are always going to be representative of what someone sees as "real" when comparing their gameplay experience to watching an actual NBA game and it's results.
-(IMO you should) Before the start of the game, switch sides and go in to 'Settings -> Playbook -> Team Strategy.' Turn Crash Boards on. Also, I would change some of the CPU Dbl team settings to 'No.' (Leave the setting at Auto only for Star players of that team) You might want to go into Defensive Matchups and change all pressure settings to high. Switch back to your original team. This results in a LOT LESS unrealistic amount of fastbreaks. Unfortunately, you can't really get rid of those completely. It's built into each team's "Offensive Strategy" coding, and sliders don't change this.
-I also opt for my teams to get rid of the "Half court man-to-man" and go with "Man-to-man." (Under Playbook and Defensive Playbook. It seems like players will only look for their players once they come within shooting range of the hoop (Three point arc). Just my advice... it's helped me avoid the CPU from opening up the floor and penetrating.
-I don't abuse the Pro hop. In fact, I rarely even use it, except to free up space for a jump shot. If you enjoy taking Kobe, jump stopping, and dunking over other defenders, these sliders are NOT for you.
-I like to play to a team's strengths, and I don't see anything outrageous in my games now... if I run the fastbreak and use my speed with the Nets, I can get good games... I have to work the ball in to Houston and the Knicks have a shot at winning... If I pound it in to Shaq and move my offense around him, the Lakers can dominate.... It's in how you play the game. (A little side note: It seems like momentum is key in the game. If you're losing a lead, or your team keeps getting beat, call a T.O. It actually seems to help!)
-User settings (for the most part) only affect the person you have selected, not your entire team. (A common misconception) Be aware that by lowering the CPU on ball physical defense, you will get less bumps by the CPU players, but your CPU defenders will also be a tad softer on defense. CPU Star players will get by your CPU defenders easier, which, in it's own quirky way, is pretty cool to see.
-With my sliders, I DO GET a decent number of mid range jumpers by the CPU. To be quite honest, they are more just barely inside the 3 point line, but that's a result of the AI, and it's not something that sliders can really help.
With that said, here are the numbers:
Difficulty: All-Star
Quarter Length: 10 Minutes
Game Speed: 45 (Matter of personal taste)
Free Throw Difficulty: 70
Boundary Force Field: 60
Injury Frequency: 50
Fatigue Effect: 45
Charge/Block Foul Frequency: 50 - Just awesome, I get the right amount of calls to no calls. I raised this number to punish the Users who liked to just go in the post and try and force home a dunk. If you go too high on this number, the CPU post players will run into foul trouble early on and you won't see them. It happens too often, so this number seems good halfway.
Shooting Foul Frequency: 63
Reach-in Foul Frequency: 78
In-air Collision Foul Frequency: 73 (Fair amount of contact with calls and no calls)
User Sliders:
User Steal Ability: 47
User Interception Ability: 47 (Your players don't seem to deflect the ball enough. This helps!)
User Shot Block Ability: 19 (Remember, this is only on JUMPSHOTS. A lot of jumpshots don't get blocked on the perimeter, mostly inside)
User Dunk/Lay-up Block Ability: 27 (Helps to stop weak shots, star players can still take it strong)
User Freestyle Effectiveness: 40 (With my other settings, you can actually take players off the dribble! Plus you can't abuse it! No dribble showcasing with Shaq, he'll lose the ball! )
User Dunk vs. Lay-up Frequency: 25
User Substitution Frequency: 78 (Personal tastes.... players are subbed just about right.)
User On-ball Defense Assist: 80 (Helps to create more mid-range jumpers by the CPU! Not sure how.. just does!)
User Offensive Rebounding: 50
User Defensive Rebounding: 25
User Fakeout Discipline: 100
User Short Range Shooting: 40
User Medium Range Shooting: 43
User Long Range Shooting: 39
User Dunk Percentage: 50
User Lay-up Percentage: 50
User Adjusted Shot Percentage: 45 (For some reason, go lower, and players like AI can't get their running jumpers to fall at a realistic pace...)
User On-ball Defense: 50
User Poor Release Shot Percent: 38 (Remember, peak of the jump. You WILL hit the open J about 80% of the time)
User Double-team Effectiveness: 30
CPU Sliders:
CPU Steal Ability: 44
CPU Interception Ability: 44
CPU Shot Block Ability: 22
CPU Dunk/Lay-up Block Ability: 27
CPU Freestyle Effectiveness: 40
CPU Dunk Frequency: 20
CPU Substitution Frequency: 78 (Seems right)
CPU Offensive Rebounding: 100
CPU Defensive Rebounding: 50
CPU Fakeout Discipline: 50 (The CPU already responds to Fakes...)
CPU Short Range Shooting: 40
CPU Medium Range Shooting: 43
CPU Long Range Shooting: 38
CPU Dunk Percentage: 50
CPU Lay-up Percentage: 45
CPU Adjusted Shot Percentage: 39
CPU Adjusted Shot Frequency: 38
CPU On-ball Physical Defense: 44
CPU Poor Release Shot Percent: 39
CPU Double-team Effectiveness: 30
There you have it guys. These are all changes I made to lower the scoring in games, as well provide a realistic challenge. You can fastbreak, but you have to make smart passes. You can hit the J with a man in your face, but you have a higher chance of doing it while open. The team tendencies seem to be brought out even MORE with this set up, as the Lakers run their half-court set while getting it into Shaq, and Kobe working the perimeter. The Mavs run, the Kings work the ball into Webber.... EA did a great job at making the teams run really well, and IMO, I've done a good job in just complimenting that.
Remember constructive criticism is always appreciated! Anyhing you want me to explain, I will. Most of the stuff is self-explanatory, though.
Most of all, have fun!"

These are the BEST sliders I've tried.
I play with these sliders on superstar and I get very realistic statistics.
Only thing is I up the shooting a few points here and there
