What/Who are the bandwagoners?

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

lamrock. wrote:On the subject of bandwagoners, it seems everyone is a Portland fan now. At least the Manu-lovers stay consistent with their homer-isms. Sure, I will bandwagon a team if my favorite is out (I am rather fond of Utah), and I care about individual players as much as I do teams, but I don't adopt an avatar of the team, speak of myself as part of the bandwagon team or make 100 posts in the thread about Summer League rookie progress, but that is just me.

I've read columns that opine that doing that constitutes jumping on the bandwagon but I don't agree. I don't think there's anything wrong with having a preference as to who'd you like to see win when your favourite team is out of the running, if you're passionate about the sport and appreciate players other than those who play for your favourite team you're bound to have an interest in other teams. It doesn't mean you follow them though.

You never offended me. Just don't like you. Your cock-jockeying of Ginobili, your refusal to look at facts, your epic failure of a sense of humor, your contradictions (see below)... Why don't you and I Sheath Kobe go and jerk off to your respective favorite players and try to forget that facts exist, then post a long rebuttal on these forums, having a sargasm discussing my manliness.

Why don't you and lamrock. just jerk each other off while you are it? It's funny how people get mad over AN INTERNET FORUM! Get a life.

Is it not a bit much though to follow those same teams in the off-season over your original favorites?

If it's more than just an interest in what's happening around the league during the offseason then I suppose you've probably jumped on the bandwagon, or are close to it. Simply having an interest in the league as a whole or enjoying watching other teams play doesn't necessarily constitute being a fan of other teams.

Actually, reading and replying to your posts is actually pretty fun. Much better than calling dei a fucking idiot for his hopelessly pathetic posts. Either way, I am always glad to make ones day.

The latest bandwagon is to accuse someone that he's a bandwagoner.

There are things/topics that do not need arguments and evidences especially basketball. We do have television sets. We watch the players play. Isn't it enough?

Bandwagoner.

If you just watch the players play, its fine. Don't make arguable statements if you don't have things to back them up though, then insult people for using facts (real arguments) against yours.

This is exactly what benji said in the third post of the thread, so apparently you agree with him but feel the need to ridicule him at the same time.

Not really, that trend has been around for quite a while.

I Sheath Kobe wrote:There are things/topics that do not need arguments and evidences especially basketball. We do have television sets. We watch the players play. Isn't it enough?

Yes, but those topics tend to be ones that simply ask for opinions, such as anything that asks you to list your favourite/least favourite whatever. I agree that there are observations that can only be made by watching a player but at the end of the day, opinions are subjective and not always unbiased so they're not reliable evidence.

Conversely, statistics are objective; if a player averages 35 ppg, he's proven himself as being able to average 35 ppg under the right circumstances, no two ways about it. If you're discussing something and making an argument for a certain point of view, you're expected to show some sort of evidence, something that proves your point. Otherwise, you're just saying "This is how it is because I say so".

So no, in some discussions/topics simply claiming something to be so based on your observations isn't really enough. Discussing topics in that manner doesn't make you a bandwagoner though.

They are right. That's two graphs not one graph. You did post plenty of graphs.

You should have used easy to understand graphs like a bar graph. Line graphs are shite to look at, no wonder they hate you, your stats, and your graphs.
