* Advanced Shot Stick: The revolutionary Shot Stick control system takes it one step further, allowing you to change your shots in mid-air.
* Adaptive A.I.: Adaptive A.I. reads, reacts, and adjusts in real time to your strategies. Your teammates initiate cuts, picks, and post-ups based on how you handle the ball, while your opponent modifies strategy to fit game pace.
* The Association 2.0: With NBA.com, you’ll have access to all the latest rumors, trades, scores, news stories and more, plus new features like Player Personalities, Ambitions, and Player Roles, a plethora of customizable options, and new mini-game drills making this the deepest and most robust franchise mode on the market.
* NBA 2K online features: 2K Sports’ industry leading online service gets all-new features including 5-on-5 Multiplayer mode with Total Team Control and a new ranking system (from Bench Warmer to Rookie to Pro to Superstar), that shows you how to match up against your opponents.
* 2K share: Create, upload, and share rosters, sliders, and even players created with the all-new Player DNA feature. The Reelmaker has been completely revamped, so you can now direct your own digital video highlight reels, and post them on 2KSports.com or your personal Web page, for all the world to watch and admire.
* 2K in HD: Drastically improved facial and skin textures, better uniforms, improved eye movement, and more realistic crowd reactions bring the game alive like never before.
* All-new broadcast team: Analyst Clark Kellogg and sideline reporter Cheryl Miller join color commentator Kevin Harlan to create one of the most knowledgeable broadcast teams in the game.
* Better replays and cutscenes: End each quarter with enhanced, multiple angle replay highlights, and be rewarded with all-new, true-to-life celebration sequences after you capture the NBA championship.

interesting to see they are doing similar things to Live 09. Should be also interesting to see who pulls off these features better.

Yeah, a lot similar to NBA Live '09 except the Player Ambitions and Player Roles. Glad that the Association mode has been improved. I'm getting 2K9 and NBA Live '09 so I'm very excited.

2K9 sounds a lot better than Live 09. Hope they can come through on their ambition. Everything looks like what live is doing but better.

The player DNA feature might be similar, although it might not be able to be updated daily as per Live '09....Association is main thing they need to improve on, as well as fine tuning & adding other stuff....

The X,

The main thing that they need to focus on is the Association mode, I completely agree with you on that. I do think that some gameplay aspects probably need to be tinkered with.

The last 2K game I played was 2K7 when I had a 360. How did you like 2K8, the X?

It looks like I'm getting both games (2K9 and Live '09) this year. The only one I'm not getting is NBA '09 by Sony because that game is utter trash that is not basketball to me at all.

2K9 will probably be the best game of the NBA 2K series.

rdelizo34, I actually preferred 2k6 over 2k7 for some reason....2k8 seems to play better than 2k7 although it still has its issues that are holding it back from being a top sporting title....I actually think College Hoops 2k8 is quite a bit better than NBA 2k8....

I'm not sure if I'll get a hoops title this year, see how I go....if I do, I'll probably only get one....I'd probably be more likely to get Live '09 if the gameplay has taken a huge step up since I haven't played it since Live '06 on PC (after which, I switched to NBA 2k series)....I'd only consider getting 2k9 if Association has improved immensely, which I doubt....I think College Hoops 2k8 Legacy shits on NBA 2k8 Association, although it shouldn't, but IMHO it does....

The X,

I wasn't lucky enough to play 2K6. I might get College Hoops 2K8 based on your take on the Legacy mode. I'm a geek for franchise modes, whether it is Association mode in NBA 2K or Dynasty in NBA Live. It's a shame that 2K won't be releasing a College Hoops 2K9, but that's just because they either lost or dropped the license.

From the sound of it, looks like you're leaning towards Live '09. Like you, I'm hoping gameplay will be vastly improved. And if it is, NBA Live '09 could be the considered one of the best NBA Live games of all time.

You own an Xbox360, right? If so, you'll be all set to go. 8-) (Y)

nah, I own a PS3....over here in Australia, if you want to play any US games like College Hoops 2k8 & NCCA Football franchise, you need to import & since PS3 is region free (& Xbox 360 is region locked), I didn't have a choice but to get rid of my 360 ;)

I too was disappointed CH2k is not continuing, as for me as a big bball (& college bball) fan, it captured the essence of the game....whilst not perfect, I find it highly enjoyable....I plan on playing my legacy for a while, that's why I'm at the stage where I might skip bball titles if they're not great....

if you do end up getting College Hoops 2k8 on 360, first thing to do after you get the game, is go online with your 360, put the game in & you'll automatically download the patch update....the patch updates a lot of the original gameplay bugs & makes the game play a lot better....from there, you can download named (& re-rated) rosters from 2k Share....also check out Operation Sports forums, people have started doing 2008/09 rosters so the game's life continues, kinda like when NFL2k5 ceased....so there should be some life in it still....it'd be nice if nba2k9 allowed you to import ch2k8 draft classes, but probably unlikely....lastly, you should be able to get the game quite cheap now, apparently it's on sale around the place in the States....just wait around & snapped it up for a good price....either that, or you could rent it first to make sure it's for you (Y)

The X,

My bad, I assumed you have a 360. Glad to hear that PS3 is region-free for you, though. Means a lot more games you can play. I have a PS3 myself and I like it a lot.

I'll definitely consider College Hoops 2K8, maybe even buy it if I like it enough.

i think this is gonna be the 2005 of basketball games. Both Live an 2k have an enormous features set.

And in the End 2k9 is gonna be better than live 09 , just like NFL 2k5 was better than Madden 2005.

Huddy187,

I agree that both games are very creative this year and have a lot to offer. I'm not entirely sure if 2K9 has a "secret" feature that has yet to be unveiled. I think though that 2K9 and NBA Live '09 will both appeal to fans this year.

I can't wait to play them both! :D 8-) (Y) (Y)

or it could be like the 2000 of basketball games where Live 2000 owned 2k, Fox Sports, In the Zone, Inside Drive, Courtside with Kobe Bryant, and NBA Jam 2000 combined.

and X, I gotta get your PSN as soon as I move out of my mom's in Sept. (when I'll presumably have internet on my PS3 again)
