baron with one of the best defensive stopper. loss was big but the gain was just as big for the clippers this offseason. now that camby was traded for some 2nd rounder, randolph just should be waived and be sent to euro league.

I think $16 million for Camby and $65 million for Davis are much bigger losses than any gain they wouldn't have already got just from Brand coming back from injury. (And everyone else returning, just for hypotheticals sake.)

I don't see how this team wins much more than 30 games. (Something they could've done for $21 million less the next two seasons.) Unless Gordon is some kind of hidden superstar.

It's not really a 2nd rounder traded for Camby.. The nuggets only got an option to swap 2nd round picks with the Clippers in 2010, so in that case, the Clippers would still have a 2nd round pick by 2010 Draft.. So it's like giving up Camby, for nothing.. You think the Denver-Detroit deal rumor is close to getting real?? Maybe their trying to get Prince and Sheed for Melo that's why they traded Camby? Who knows what's going on with the Nuggets front office.. There may be a better reason why they made that move..

Yes. The Nuggets, per wazee's account, traded Camby for the option to swap second round picks. They can exercise this option or not, it is up to them. What they got for Camby was the option to do so.

then the only reason that i see for TRADING camby is to clear cap space, like wazee said, to get sheed and tayshaun..

If ever that trade goes, they have all the cap space in the world to absorb Tayshaun's and Sheed's contract, with the departure of Camby, and if ever, of Melo, that's more than 20 million of cap relief.. I don't know what the Nuggets are thinking because I think they won't be a big player for free agency during 2010, with their current cap space, considering Melo won't be traded, and AI being resigned next offseason.. But I think they may get a great player by that time if K-Mart's contract expires, but still, there is no guarantee of landing a star player in 2010, with all the cap clearing by some teams like New York and New Jersey.. (AI would be a little older by this time and would seek for a team that could contend for a championship)... So the probable scenario would be the Detroit-Denver deal.. or they may deal some other players to add some key pieces for Denver to support Melo and AI, this would give them a 10 million trade exception where they can use for a year.. I think the upside for this deal for the nuggets is flexibility next season..
I think they wouldn't be active with the free agency this offseason because they are still beyond cap space even with Camby moving to the Clippers..

This is like when Phoenix gave Seattle Kurt Thomas, their 2008 pick and their 2010 pick (which will probably be in the lottery it looks like) so they didn't have to pay. The difference here is that Denver doesn't give any picks up, and wouldn't have won a title anyway. (I believe that if they still had Kurt Thomas, the Suns would have had a good chance to win it all)

they basically replaced corey and elton with camby and davis. it gives a team total different look and now thorton can insert himself more into the offense. plus 2 seven footers(camby, kaveman) in paint. and clippers also saves a few milliion $ for next year which leads to more flexibility for the team.

well... i say it worked out rather in a favourable way for clippers after all, since the team was going nowhere with disgruntled cores.

Davis-Mobley-Thornton-Camby-Kaman with Eric Gordon only going to continue improving and then Tim Thomas who can pick times to get hot and a good defender in Quinton Ross.

The Nugs might conceded 130 points a game next season and the Mavs just might make the playoffs again...as a 7th seed.

Not much to say that hasn't already been said. It blows the Clippers' cap room and doesn't make up for the loss of brand but a second round pick for Camby is a steal, at least for the moment. I guess the Nuggets have a lot of faith in Nene and are convinced they'll be able to make a run at someone (probably not LeBron) in a couple of year's time.

they would have signed maggette and elton for more money than davis and camby. that's what i meant by saving. in fact, camby is a rather affordable & efficient 7 footer in the league at the moment. and i think their pay for baron davis is just about right, not overpaying him by 2 much.

and i doubt elton & maggette combo would do much better as clippers than baron and camby. sure sounds like a downgrade but by how far? especially when u consider elton is coming off from the biggest injury he ever gone thru and baron coming off from best years. as for marcus, a still proven defensive stopper. as u hear everywhere, defense wins the game in the end and clippers improved in D fo sure.

btw, 16 mil for camby isn't bad when u consider 2 years of quality service from legit 7 footer defensive force. 8mil / 7.65mil. in fact, he's even cheaper than kaman and a lot of other big mens.
