Lately I have been looking at buying a new computer, and the first thing that came into my mind was why dont i try a Mac. We have a few Macs at work that are beautiful computers, and i wouldnt mind one myself, just to gain the extra knowledge of being able to use one to assist my job (IT tech).
Who here uses a Mac? and what do you honestly think about them?
My main concern is that i wont be able to use all my software on it (limewire, azureus, avg, firefox, etc) and wont be able to play many games. That may sound a bit stereotypical of a Mac, but can anyone give me some advice?

In my experience, there's nothing you can't do on a Mac that you can do on a PC noawdays. I'd suggest you research and try a Mac out at a store and see how you like it.

Why would you want AVG on Mac OS X? 
Most of your questions have already been answered in the two threads linked previously. If you want a personal opinion, the only major turn-down of Macs are the cooling system (just on 20" iMacs, Mac Minis and MacBooks as far as I know, though), which can be solved by upgrading the cooling fan.
As far as applications go, as said before in other threads, all the apps you mentioned are available for Mac OS X (except for AVG, lol). Not to mention some of the (IMO) greatest desktop applications out there (both Pro and non-Pro) are available only for Mac (Final Cut Studio, Aperture, Logic Express, Shake, the whole iLife and iWork suites, ComicLife, Bento).
Also, I find some applications that run on both Windoze and Mac OS X to run smoother and faster on a Mac (the whole Adobe Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects; any FileMaker application; Microsoft Office; Firefox, which I admit I think runs best on Linux, though; Corel Painter, etc), improving productivity, and to be overall more stable and easy to use (the whole unified GUI in Leopard makes this possible by having the intuitive menus originally from the iLife suite on third-party apps too).

I think it was PCMag that ran a benchmark test, and a Mac running Windows came out faster than Dell, et al. Also, in my experience here at work with Vista and at home with OS X, Photoshop is occasionally jerky with some of its tools on Vista, and it can be really frustrating.

making the reasons to ever buying a PC completely obsolete.
Cost/Design? Steam? An aversion to fascism and love for diversity? Lack of market share? Resistance to join those who only present a false choice and anecdotes? A dislike for the entire Mac UI?
Also, let me know when Apple isn't a monopolistic holder of access to the Mac experience. And not run by a complete lunatic who could realistically destroy not only the company but half the Left Coast at anytime.
Although, they'd probably send me a motherboard that works unlike Asus who just seem to personally hate me.
