Graphics problem/ thanks for any help

hi guys i need help im just not starting to play games on a pc so bear wth me

when i play nba live 08 on the pc without any patches from here, my graphics look like so

when i do albys roster patch and load his settings file it looks like this

what changes?? my graphics card supposedly is crummy, i have madden 08 for the pc and it looks like the first picture as well

does it have something to do with pixel shaders????? what is wrong in the first pic what is it missing, does ur guys' patches force better performance in a video card??????? how does this work, again please be patient im new to pc gaming thank you.

Basically, his settings.dat file must have turned lighting "on" in the detail settings. If it was grayed out for you, then your one of the lucky people who can turn lighting on with someone else's settings file.

No patches can't improve the performance of a video card. Many of the patches are of a higher resolution then the default files, and the only thing that can do is degrade the performance.

cool, thanks i also found a program called 3d anaylyze witch lets me do this to, thanks for your help

i didnt know lighting meant better textures i thought it just meant..........well better lighting thaks alot
