Last DVDs you bought

Postby Andrew on Mon Jun 23, 2008 7:52 pm

What are your most recent DVD purchases? As I've mentioned once or twice before I'm a bit compulsive when it comes to buying DVDs when they first come out and as a result I picked up quite a few recently:

- WWE Wrestlemania 24
- WWE: Triple H - The King of Kings
- WWE: The Rock - The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment
- An Evening With Kevin Smith/Evening With Kevin Smith 2 Double Pack
- Californication: Season 1
- South Park: Imaginationland (Feature Length Director's Cut)

I've also got Clerks: The Animated Series on order, which should be arriving soon.

I've picked up a handful of DVDs lately, including a few ex-rentals and cheap DVDs from the video store. My latest purchases include:

WWE Wrestlemania Anthology
Rocky Balboa
Office Space
There's Something about Mary
WWE Presents: The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA
The Sandlot (just for the nostalgia)

I've also got the WWE Summerslam anthology coming when it's released and the Ladder Match anthology as well. I also picked up a few DVDs while I was in Canada:

Clerks X: The Tenth Anniversary Special Edition
Drawn Together: Season Three
Jerry Seinfeld: I'm telling you for the last time
Robin Williams: Live on Broadway
WWE Royal Rumble Anthology
Rowan Atkinson Live
Chris Rock: Never Scared

I've bought a lot of DVDs, but stopped since Blu-Ray's now the new standard and I'm saving up for a HDTV and Blu-Ray player. Anyhoo, the last DVDs I bought was Full Metal Jacket and Gangs of New York.

If I had a PS3 I'd start buying Blu-Ray but right now I can't justify the expense of a player and a new TV; it really wouldn't be worth it on the TV I have at the moment.

I know. It's tough. On one hand, it'd be nice to have the luxuries, but on the other hand, it's expensive and the money could be put towards something more worthwhile, like paying off the car. It might not be for a year till I can really be able to afford it.

Not bad.
Surprised that Robin Williams loved the F word so much when I watched that DVD. (I think that was it iirc)

Nothing raunchy I'm afraid, just DVDs and video games mostly.

The last DVD I bought was Chicago.

I know it's a musical, but I loved the plot, the acting and the soundtrack.

Does anyone buy DVDs of television shows or movies they've never seen? The only DVDs I really buy "blind" are ones that concern my interests, aside from that I don't buy movies or TV show boxsets that I've never seen but have heard were good outside a couple that had were under $10.

Ditto, I buy what I've seen. Although, like Andrew said, I do (rarely) buy DVDs that I've never seen and usually I do end up liking it a lot. The only exception is Thin Red Line. I found that movie to be boring as shit. Maybe too deep for my liking.

Just bought the 2nd of the Futurama DVDs, not bad, a lot raunchier for the show than normal but I liked it.

Probably selling it back to the store though, I'd recommend a rental.
Opinions are my own.

It's about a murder and murder trial.

It's entirely different than what you might think.
