09 better than 08?

Thu Jun 12, 2008 11:54 am

I have one question. Will NBA Live 09 be any good? I have been a die hard EA fan since i can remember. But I have lost all faith in EA with the steady decline of their sports games over the last 3 years. NBA Live 08 was a horrible game with tons of glitches.

Sadly, I have to say the EA sport's games have flopped worse than the shaq trade. I really doubt that in a year the game will make a sudden turn around...EA is going have to make a believer of all of us at this point...I didnt buy LIVE 08 for that same reason first new gen game for EA i didnt see much promise. I mean of course i hope 09 shows some sort of light.

I'd like to think so but I'll hold off speculating on it until we've learned a bit more about the game and I've had a chance to play it at this year's community event.

I HOPE SO... it looks better SO FAR... you know how games are though... they say one thing.. and you get another

i really think we're gonna see a big improvement this year, they've got some lead designers from 2k8 working on live 09, so i think these guys can put them in the right direction

Sat Jun 21, 2008 3:17 pm

Judging by the video. . it already looks better than 08

Sat Jun 21, 2008 3:41 pm

i was looking at some of the new screens from the official web and you can see from the screens how they've improved the crowd...u can see people getting up and walking, and people in the front row crossing their legs...just a whole better overall atmosphere...

and yeah i know 2k's already had this, but its nice to see live step into reality

I can't see how it could get any worse...

I think the 360 version of 08 certainly could have been a lot worse. It wasn't perfect but it wasn't the disappointment the PC version was in my book.

I want proof of this.

Mike Wang aka "Beluba" is the one I know for sure

MIKE WANG joined us this year from 2K and has been working on gameplay and AI. Mike has contributed to several new features this year, focusing on shooting, dunks, and shot blocks for LIVE 09. He's also been working on some top secret features for NBA LIVE 10 that you will learn about next year.

make that 2 ppls

JEREMY TINER is handling Dynasty as well as working on the NBA LIVE Academy and Be A Pro features. He's another guy that joined us from 2K, and aside from being a big admirer of Isiah Thomas, he roots for his beloved Golden State Warriors.

I recall that Wang guy. Maybe the Live franchise will finally get its act together with Live 09.

The no PC release is still a downer.

A little off-topic but I just noticed the use of "NBA LIVE 10". Not that it matters any more than the player on the cover but I kind of hope they re-think the numbering system next year since NBA Live 10 would actually be the sixteenth instalment in the series and it just doesn't look right. NBA Live 2010 or even NBA Live: 2009/2010 Season Edition (that we'd all refer to as NBA Live 2010 anyway) would be less awkward.

Mon Jun 23, 2008 6:25 am

It has been mentioned before, so Nba Live X perhaps?

Mon Jun 23, 2008 6:26 am

That still suggests the tenth instalment in the series, which it isn't.

Maybe it was NBA Live '10, which means 2010 anyway.

Mon Jun 23, 2008 6:56 am

I'm well aware of that and I'm certain that's the intention. My point is that it doesn't look right, partly because using the number 10 (as opposed to 2010) makes it seem like the tenth instalment in the series.

Mon Jun 23, 2008 7:15 am

or we could all stop being lazy and actually jus type and say "2010" lol

Mon Jun 23, 2008 7:19 am

It has nothing to do with laziness, it comes down to whether EA decides to call the next game NBA Live 10, which I feel would be an awkward title.

Mon Jun 23, 2008 11:02 pm

That's what I believe. I think they go back to the format they used until '05 and call it NBA Live 2010.

Mon Jun 23, 2008 11:06 pm

I hope so, I believe it will look and sound a lot better. Mind you, I suppose that's neither here nor there if the game inside isn't satisfactory.

Tue Jun 24, 2008 11:05 pm

it will be great... im impressed with the trailer...

Wed Jun 25, 2008 12:16 am

NBA Live 010.

Thu Jun 26, 2008 9:58 am

NBA Live 2010.... makes it sound like a retro sci-fi movie

anyway, like Andrew said, what matters most is the game inside the box and not the box itself so much...
