2K8 Suggestions?

Postby Jing on Thu Jun 19, 2008 7:44 pm

Well those who have been here a while probably have seen my dynasties for 06 and 07. I didn't do one for 08 because it was simply unplayable, and now that I've given up on my desktop, my laptop isn't really gaming material and I've more or less given up on PC games.

Recently I decided to splurge and get a PS3, and just a couple days ago I got my NBA 2K8 copy. At the inspiration of X (you drunk), Buzzy, and Conrad (you damn hippie), I'm tempted to start another dynasty, and this time with NBA 2k8, which absolutely trounces Live in just about ever category.

I guess what I am asking for is maybe team suggestions, or what type/genre of dynasty would be to your tastes, be it first person, team owner, coach (though I've never been much for writing novels like Sit).

I'll be most likely buying one of those adapter things to hook my laptop to my TV so I can take better pictures, because I find all-text dynasties tasteless, and a digital camera picture of the TV just won't do.

Fire away.

I would love to see you making a worst team to be a good team. Right now some of the dynasties here make that but for me any team will do as long as it is entertaining to follow and read.

I'd really like to see a Kings' one where you build them up & beat the Lakers with Dick Bavetta reffing....but in all seriousness, I would like to see the Kings....download some draft classes off 2k share or where ever you can get them....just don't do Knicks ;)

probably a good thing to hook TV up to laptop to take pics....that's the big problem & hindrance I have in mine....it was so much easier back in the day with Live on PC & just hitting the F-whatever button to take a quick snap with fraps....you could take like 20-30 pics in a game if you wanted, then just take the best one or two & work with that....it's more of a hassle with digital camera & never comes out as good unfortunately (N)

btw, I'm not a drunk anymore, especially compared to Sit, who has taken over the mantle

Nice, a new 2k Association here would be great.
For your team, I'd say take that one you like the most, but if you wanna hear my suggestion, I'd like to see a Sonics dynasty. Young guns, developing Durant into a star, do wahtever it takes to make them contenderns.

As for the screens, here is what I got with an average Digital camera, taking a picture of my screen: http://img166.imageshack.us/img166/5239/game3fo2.png
With the right photoshopping it can look really good.

But if you buy some of those adapters, can you provide some informations? Costs, etc.
Maybe I'd get one too.

Try something different. Maybe write it from the perspective of an avid nba fan who is a season ticket holder who even goes to the away games. He writes a game recap complete with opinions, snaps pictures, and analyzes things in the nba every now and then.

As for an adapter, a cheap usb capture device might be what your looking for. Especially if you can run the ps3 through your tv, and your tv through the usb device. Hopefully your laptop has usb.

Pdubs idea is good, I would like to see a Blazers or Kings one, maybe a Heat or Nets would be fun in the east.

I'm really digging the fan idea. Or maybe make it kind of from a local sportswriter's perspective.

I talked to Jao and those things are like 10-30 bucks, from liken newegg or something. Looks like its some kind of drive, so even if I get it, I might be too scared to mess with the laptop. We'll see, I might just jump the gun and get it started with the camera.

Buzzy, I don't see how you can get such clear images with your camera, is it due to the fact you have a flatscreen while I am on a analog tv?

Ya Sixers are awesome to play, too!

Jing, I'm playing my 360 on a fat 19'' PC monitor :P . I guess I'm very lucky then. But you have to improve the colors and sharpen things up in Photoshop.

And Pdub's idea sounds great. If you'll pull it off nicely, I bet the whole NBA Live dynasty section will copy it.

Yeah, so I think it's more or less down to either the 76ers or the Blazers. Both teams are built quite similarly. Portland has a stud and potential all star in Brandon Roy, while Iggie plays that role in Philly. They both also have half-assed PGs in Steve Blake and Andre Miller, both just average in what they do. They also have 2 defensive centers in Pryz and Dalembert, who aren't really treats offensively, but can pull down the boards. Then they are surrounded by guys who do little things, not amazingly but they do them. Webster was shooting nothing but air in the game I watched, and same for Green on Philly.

I'll post a little bit later some test pictures that I took with the camera, they are pretty grainy that I don't think even photoshop can save. Also if anyone has like CS3, gimme a IM, I'm having some issues with it.

I have actually met the 76ers in the finals in one of my first two seasons even though they were a low seed in the playoffs. This was with the updated roster. Probably just a random occurance.

Except Miller is not only the best PG in the Eastern Conference right now, but the best player on the team.

Really, what about Billups, or Rondo?

Also here are some pictures taken with camera. I tried to fix/touch them up as much as possible. I been talking with Jao and it looks like the adapter is around 40 dollars or so, pretty pricey.

As you can see they still look very grainy and unclear, but I am doubting whether I can shell out the dollars for an adapter just to do a dynasty. Seems like X and Lam's text dynasties are surviving just fine (X is like a bear though, in hibernation). I've also been looking at maybe the Heat, considering their absolute failure as a team. I am probably going to go and try to finalize a team tonight.

And yeah X man, Sit was talking to me the other day about the Irish Pub, sounds like a wild time.

Man, LCDs are expensive! Like 400 bucks for just a 19-inch one.

Bullshit. You can get a cheap LCD monitor for just over 100 bucks. You must be talking about an LCD TV. F-that, it's a waste. If you are going to spend money, you might as well get the usb capture thing.

Imo, those pics aren't that bad, usually what is bad about taking pics off a tv is the reflection. Only thing bad about the pics are the washed out colors.
