Supposedly it will be a sandbox style game but also refers to itself as an "adventure game", which is pretty much a dead genre these days. The original games are classics in my view because they
are truly adventure games and their risque humour made them unique. I played a demo of Magna Cum Laude, which was also made without Al Lowe's involvement and didn't think much of it. If there's a demo though, I'll probably give it a try but I'm skeptical as to whether it can capture the spirit of the original, true Larry games.

Guybrush Threapwood ftw. I used to love Monkey Island.
I only played a Leisure Suit Larry demo once, never liked it.
Anyone remember Grim Fandango? That was my favorite adventure of all time. Runaway (the 2D one) was also cool.
I've got to play one of thoe games again.

Monkey Island was fantastic, I still have the entire series. Supposedly a fifth game might be made in the future but LucasArts are focusing on Star Wars and new franchises rather than the older ones like Monkey Island. They ended up scrapping the new Sam & Max, I haven't played any of the episodic games that Telltale Games have released. Loved the original though, along with Day of the Tentacle and Full Throttle.

They're great, give it a shot. I havent' played the old ones, but the new ones are truly hilarious, some of the best dialogs I've ever seen or heard of...

I've been thinking about it now that first "season" is out on DVD-ROM. If they're anything like the original I'm sure they're fantastic.

I picked up the new Sam & Max Season One. I've only played the first episode so far but I was impressed with how they captured the spirit of the original and the traditional humour of the characters.
There's a
producer interview from January I hadn't seen until now. Still doesn't sound like it's going to come close to the original Larry games though the comments people have left on the article are hilarious, particularly the individual who blames Australians for the lack of nudity in Box Office Bust. Well, I guess our ratings board is partly responsible but you'd think that would only place restrictions on the Australian release.

Monkey Island series and Grim Fandango are CLASSICS. I loved playing those games since I'm a big fan of adventure games.
I only played Grim Fandango in spanish, the character's name was Manny Calavera. What was his name in the english version?
By the way people, play the Broken Sword series. GREAT adventure games.

The same, according to Wikipedia. Despite being a fan of the LucasArts adventure games, I've never played Grim Fandango. I see it's available as part of their Classic Collection now and fairly cheap so I might pick it up sometime.
