Minnesota Timberwolves - Attack of the Wolves

Image

This is my first dynasty and I have learned a lot from other dynasties. I have enjoyed reading all the great dynasties here and finally I decided to start my own. I will simulate the first season and then start my dynasty in the 08-09 season. I will try my best to make the Minnesota Timberwolves a contender in the league by making trades and signing free-agents in the off-season. Thanks too Lamrock. and Chaser7 for inspiring me to write this dynasty.

That's looking good so far. Funny, that Gomes' overall is 74, in my game it's just 67 and he can't do much in my dynasty, besides give rest to VC. Good luck.

Doleac, Smith, Snyder and Telfair Moving On

Image

Michael Doleac, Craig Smith, Kirk Snyder and Sebastian Telfair were released on Wednesday. Kirk Snyder and Sebastian Telfair both asking for too much money. Craig Smith not re-signing was because he wanted to go to a winning team and a smaller city, but if options may vary he might sign with the club later on in the season.

2008 NBA Draft Part 1

Dominique Wilkins and Glen Taylor sat sat across from each other as the Minnesota Timberwolves were on the clock.
"Who we gonna pick, Rey or McDonald?" exclaimed Wilkins.
"I'm not the General Manager here Dom, Its up too you." said Taylor.
"Well, I'm not too sure, they're both promising guys..." replied Wilkins.
"Dom, You have to choose now." Taylor said.
"I know... I know... Whats your opinion?" Wilkins said to Taylor
"My opinion? My opinion is that you choose the guy that you think will be the right fit to the team." yelled Taylor
Just then Head Coach Randy Wittman entered the room.
"There is two minutes left on the clock guys, hurry!" shouted Wittman.
Wilkins sat there sweating as the biggest choice of his life was coming up.
Armando Rey is a Chris Bosh type of player and can play great defence and excellent rebounding abilities. Abdullah McDonald is a Elton Brand type of player who is a unbelievable dunker, scorer and has good defensive skills.
"Honestly Dom, I think the best bet would be to pick McDonald, he was number two in the mock draft and Rey was number seven but pick whoever you think is the best." suggested Taylor.
"What? Are you insane Glen? Rey would get us the ball off the boards and then throw them over to Foye to set up the plays." said Wittman.
"Both players are excellent, but we need the guy that is going to fit with us the best." said Wilkins
"I'm the coach here Dominique, I know that Rey is the right player for us." shouted Wittman.
"I am the General Manager, I make the decisions!" Wilkins shouted back.
"You know nothing about this squad, I am the coach and I know that Rey will bring great chemistry to the team. " replied wittman.
"Well it's my choice if you are going to stay or get fired and it's my choice to who we are going to pick." shouted Wilkins.
"Fired? You can't fire me! I've had enough of this bull shit, talk to me later if you made the right decision and picked Rey." Wittman said as he stormed out of the room.
"Well Dom, We have to give them our pick now." said Taylor.
Wilkins then sat there with a smile on his face.
"I know exactly who I am going to pick." Wilkins said.
Wilkins brought out a piece of paper and wrote a name on it. He showed it to Taylor and they both nodded. They stood up, shook hands and walked out of the room.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wilkins and Taylor sat down as David Stern began to walk to the podium.
"Do you think he's the right fit Dom?" said Taylor.
"I know he is the guy for us, I know for sure." Wilkins answered with a smile on his face.
"Well this is it, the new kind of start that I had in mind." said Taylor.
"Ya. I'm happy this is going to be over. Most stressful day of my life." Wilkins said while yawning.
"Well, Next step is signing free-agents my friend."
"free-agency will be a delight, now should we put Gomes as back-up power forward or make him starting small forward?" Wilkins wondered.
"We will talk about this after the draft, Dom." Taylor exclaimed.
Just then David Stern announced to the audience,"With the third pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select...

2008 NBA Draft Part 2

"With the third pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves select Abdullah McDonald." David Stern announced.
The Timberwolves fans jumped out of the seats and started screaming for joy. McDonald walked up to the stage with a huge grin on his face as the commissioner hands him a Timberwolves hat. Cameras started flashing everywhere as McDonald shakes Stern's hand. McDonald then went to the side and sat down next to a reporter.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Hello there McDonald, I am Dallas Ryan." said Ryan.
"Hey there Dallas, Whats up?" replied McDonald.
"So, Are you happy to be picked by the Timerwolves?" Ryan said.
"Wow, I am extremely happy. The talent that this team has is incredible and it's a blessing that I'm going to become a part of it." said McDonald.
"Did you have any time to talk to Dominique Wilkins after the Indiana Pacers didn't pick you?" said Ryan.
"As a matter of fact he did, he talked to me and said that he was juggling around me and Rey and that I was going to know who he was going to pick when David Stern announced it." McDonald exclaimed.
"I see, now speaking of the Indiana Pacers not picking you, were you upset that you weren't taken at number 2?" said Ryan.
"You know, I would have been happy getting picked number 30th. All I want to do is play basketball, my heart is in the game and I'm looking to get better at it." McDonald said with a grin on his face.
"Well that's great to know, thanks for taking time out to have this talk." said Ryan.
"No, Thank you." McDonald said as he began to stand up.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well Dom, I think that you made the right decisions today." said Taylor.
"Thanks Glen, think that Dao Francis kid that we picked will be any good? said Wilkins.
"You know, I really like him. I think he might push McCants for the starting job." said Taylor with a happy look on his face.
"I think so too, I saw a lot of talent in this kid." said Wilkins.
"Not as much as McDonald though, too tell you the truth... he reminded me of you when you played." said Taylor.
"Hmmm. I never thought of that." Wilkins said with a strange look on his face.
"So you think that's why you picked him?" Taylor suggested.
"No, I picked him because I know hes the right guy for the team." Wilkins said with a grin on his face.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wilkins and the rest of the Timberwolves organization was sitting down talking about their new players.
"So Dom, Thought of that thing we talked about earlier?" said Taylor.
"What thing?" Wilkins said puzzlingly.
"About gomes, power forward or small forward?" said Taylor.
Just then Randy Wittman burst into the room.
"You know what Dominique, I am sorry. You made the right move and I was wrong." said Wittman.
"Thank you Randy." said Wilkins.
"Now, about McDonald. I think i should start improving him right away." exclaimed Wittman.
"Randy...." Wilkins said.
"I mean right away Dominique, hes a promising player!" said Wittman.
"Randy....!" Wilkins said again.
"And that Francis guy looks amazing, I want to improve I'm on his free throws though." Wittman said.
"RANDY!" Wilkins shouted.
"What?" Wittman asked.
"You're Fired." Said Wilkins.
"You can't fire me." said Wittman.
"I can, You're fired." shouted Taylor.

Avery Johnson Joins the Team

After Taylor fired Randy Wittman, Dominique Wilkins was quick to find a replacement. Avery Johnson was fired from the Dallas Mavericks after the Mavericks did not win the NBA Finals again. Johnson is excited to work with this group of players. Another coach that Wilkins was looking at was Mike D'Antoni after the suns had not won the NBA finals again but he was hired by the New York Knicks after they fired Isaiah Thomas

Duck2, I suggest you resign Telfair cuz he is the next Starbury and he is more fast than Randy Foyle and more offensive wise but Randy is a better shooter but thats why you got McCants and Telfair has talent and remeber he came form the playgrounds of Harlem and NYC where i come from but he is just a talented kid who needs to learn better shooting and thats it and thats why you have Assistant Coaches. Just a suggest lol ;)

MadNice, Whoah, that's a long sentence. No commas what so ever.

I think this opens many directions when you start signing free agents. Maybe Smith should have stayed.

Best of luck!
