How to add players into Rosters file?

Postby Ordlad on Mon Jun 02, 2008 2:41 am

Hello everyone. I'm currently having a problem with the 2008 draftees I just downloaded. I do have the portraits and cyberface files of those draftees but they just couldn't show up in my game. I think I may have to edit the player.dbf file to add the draftees in my game but I know nothing about editing roster file. Can anyone of you tell me how to make the newly downloaded players into the game as Free Agents? Thanks a lot!

Well, just create them using create a player.

Then, for make portraits and cyberfaces appear, you have to do some dbf editing. Go to this location:

My Documents -> NBA Live 08 -> saves

Here choose the roster you're using. Folder name should be the same as save name in game.

Open players.dbf file with DB Commander. Find your rookies, they should be at the bottom. Then go right until you find a field "PLAYERPKG". If you find it, insert 2 first letters from player's first name and 5 first letters from player's last name. It should look like this for example:

Michael Beasley - MIBEASL
Brook Lopez - BRLOPEZ

If player's last name is shorter than 5 letters, do this:

Derrick Rose - DEROSE_
OJ Mayo - OJMAYO_

etc.

Search also for the field "ISCREATED" and set it to False.

Note also players' IDs from the players.dbf. Then open appearance.dbf file with DB Commander, find the same IDs in this file (at the bottom probably) and set the "FACE" field to -1.

If you do it correctly, portraits and cyberfaces you installed should appear.

I too would recommend using Create-a-Player and then editing players.dbf and appearance.dbf accordingly so that you can modify their hidden attributes and assign cyberfaces. There's no advantage in adding players directly into the DBF.

Thank you very much for this. Now I've successfully added Beasley, Rose, Mayo and Gordon to my game and they're looking excellent. Have a nice day!
