2008 Western Finals: (1) Lakers vs. (3) Spurs

Postby Lamrock on Tue May 20, 2008 1:02 pm

First, muthafuckas!

Okay, the Western Conference finals are here, with an old matchup from the Shaq days. Who will win?

I'm saying the lake show in 7, due to Homecourt Advantage, how good they are, and because I want them to win. :P

In order to be able to continue posting on the forums, I'll guess Spurs in three.

I dunno which side to choose here, but I do know that the Lakers will have a hard time against the Spurs. And I'm telling you guys right away that this is coming from me being a big Laker fan.

The playoffs has been always about creating matchup problems and the Lakers created problems for both Denver and Utah. But this time round, the Lakers doesn't have that luxury. Instead, the Spurs have the advantage in the PG and PF positions in Tony Parker and Tim Duncan. the Laker's only advantage is they have the league's MVP, but the Spurs will have 3 answers against him. Manu, Bowen, and a deep bench.

If Kobe has a chance to show his worth as MVP, it's in this series.

What about being a fantastic offensive team that runs deep?

I hope the entire Spurs Franchise retire soon, they are all getting too old... haha

Kidding aside, I pick the Lakers to win in 6. I hope that Ariza can play, with him back, I think the Lakers become much better in transition. Though I think there is not much to Ariza's game, he does finish well in transition. With Shaq gone and the Admiral gone. Both teams are sporting different looks since they last matched up in the conference finals. Hopefully, this series might be a little bit more watchable than the Spurs two previous series.

Lakers in 6.

Should have been way way way easier if the lakers will face the hornets. Now its harder..spurs are the champions..and they have the true best point guard in the person of tony parker..they also have ginobili and of course, timmy d..

this would be exciting..and i just hope that the lakers will win no matter how long it takes..if it will not end at 6 games..

Translation: I do not like Paul because I want to be cool. Younger kids don't know Parker and I will sound intelligent in front of them.

Am I doing it right?

No you're not doing it right because you're going out of the discussion.

I think you should start a new topic..specifically a new orleans hornets thread or a "why do the media voted for kobe as the mvp, i know better than them..they're just the media, i'm a fan" thread..

who do you think will win benji?..i'm picking lakers at 6.

Why is Tony Parker the best point guard?

Well, you're using it as a reason to why the Spurs would be more difficult than the Hornets, and a reason the Lakers will have problems in the Conference Finals.

1. Bryant vs. New Orleans this season: 28 points per game, 50 percent from the field, 45.8 percent on 3-pointers, 25 assists, nine turnovers.

2. Bryant vs. San Antonio this season: 24.3 points per game, 44 percent from the field, 29.4 percent on 3-pointers, 18 assists, 17 turnovers.

3. San Antonio's style will be harder to adjust to - particularly for Jordan Farmar and the free-flow, quick-strike Lakers second-team offense. Whereas Utah crashes the offensive boards, opening transition opportunities, San Antonio gets back at all costs.

I wasn't contending the Spurs would be more or less difficult than the Hornets...or the Jazz. I was contending the claim that Tony Parker is the "true" best point guard, especially with it as the previous second reason given. (After the Spurs having won a title last season.)

Aw you're doing a great job, what a contribution! Put it on your resume.

As for ze topic, I think it'll be a relatively short series. How ironic would it be if the Gasol for Kwame trade actually came back to hurt the Lakers (Kwame has always played Duncan relatively well since he was traded to the Lakers). But seeing this is about predictions I choose LAKERS IN 15 OH HAHAHAHAH GOD DAMNIT IM FUNNY!

Interesting Lamrock, your fourth bandwagon team of the playoffs?
With all due respect to San Antonio, I have to say Lakers in 7. You know they can't defend their title, they never have.
You can say this is their year, go ahead. But the Lakers are just too good this year.

this is the post of the thread lol, great stuff

anyway i am really torn over who i want to win this matchup, the lakers would make for a better finals i think but i think the celtics would have a easier time playing the spurs(assuming the celtics make it). as for who i think will win, well right now i am finding it hard to root against the lakers so i am saying LA in 6

I've picked against the Spurs twice already and been burned by it so this time I'll pick them, which probably means the Lakers are moving on. Regardless, I'll stick with a pick of Spurs in seven.

Does making a playoff thread make your penis bigger?

How about posting stupid poll options which borderlines retardedness more than humor?

There must be some sort of "stupid" virus in the Seattle water.
