Yao Ming just dropped 27 on Duncan, Robinson and the Spurs

27 points, 18 rebounds 10/18 fgs, 7/7 fts and 3 blocks.

The most interesting part of all was that he actually dominated both Duncan and Robinson in the post whenever he felt like it...

His boards were, mostly, fought for, instead of gifted to him. He showed some real hustle in several moments.

If the kid continues to improve, he'll be (in the future) the real franchise player of the Rockets.

I believe his set of skills is a lot different from those of the Dream, and will lead to a very different development.

But I do think he can become a great force for the Rockets, and is certainly a much more inetresting investment than Steve Francis...

Actually, Ming could average 30ppg if he wanted to, but according to Rudy T he's too unselfish and tries to be a team player. However, coaching staff has recently told him to DOMINATE and take all the shots he wants - so get used to games like this one.

I don't wanna sound like a Ming hater but I don't really understand why everytime he has a good game (which can be expected from him being the #1 pick in the NBA Draft) there needs to be a thread about it and a whole discussion. This guy was the first pick in this years draft! He's supposed to be good.

The NBA's attitude of going after potential rather than ability really messed up the way people think. It used to be nothing but expected to see the number one pick put up a good game. Hell, if he'd have as many lowly games as Ming has had so far he'd be eaten alive by the press and the fans. Nowadays when the number 1 has a bad game, there's no mention and when he has a good everybody throws a party.

Don't get me wrong, I think Ming can be great and it's good to see him put up good numbers. But this way of thinking is messed up IMO.

er.... apparently no matter Yao has a good game or a bad game, he will get flamed by the media.... the media just loved to talk about Yao so much that any little things also they will start an article on Yao, though its not because he is the No. 1 pick or what.... it's because he is a No. 1 pick from CHINA!!! that makes him a lot more different than the other No. 1 pick......

No. 1 pick should be expected to put up such numbers? no necessary.... There's the likes of Joe Smith, Kwame Brown (though he is starting to show flashes here and there)..... not every No.1 pick is capable of playing good once they got into NBA.....

For Ming, I think most NBA analyst have him as a bad pick for No. 1..... if u recall most of the analyst b4 draft..... not to mention that he is called a BUST after the Chicago workout few months b4 the draft...... but now he shows everyone why he is the top pick and clear the doubt in lots of the so called TOP NBA analyst.....

The combination of Yao Ming & Steve Francis.... that will be a really good duo in a few years time.....

I agree, the rookie has a lots of years to prove he can be good so a good game is another small step of probably a good career

and, what i was trying to communicate earlier, was that Ming is having a great game every game. in the games he shoots 8 points it happens to be on 4-5 shooting. he plays unselfish team basketball because in china they don't care about individual stats, so sometimes Ming won't try to dominate the game. but he will dominate now, because it has been reported that Rudy T is asking him to. so sit back and enjoy the Yao Ming show. and if ur a doubter, hide.

rockets are going to be up and down all year, but they will still make the playoffs. i feel houston & dallas are going have a little rivalry of their own the rest of the season and years to come?

but the rockets will go as far as steve franchise takes them. but rudy T has got to forget about cato & any other rockets center and make yao ming play major minutes (35-40) before i feel he can make a major impact instantly, especically as far as defense is concerned. if that happens and yao gets good minutes, by the end of his rookie year he could be the 2nd most dominant center behind shaqzilla.

I wouldn't forget about Cato, he's a beast of a big man this year, put him and Ming on the frontcourt together. That would be nice.

Everyone knows how Shaq dominates every big man in this league, well in a few years Yao Ming will be doing that (Apart from Shaq). He can't be stopped around the basket, especially on offensive rebounds when he keeps the ball up high and puts it back in. Noone is going to block that!!! He could score 50 easy. If they went to him a majority of the game and he shot as well as he has been he would get it.

When Yao was gonna come to NBA, alot of people around me were making fun on him, said that he was gonna get heart attack and shit; after he became the #1DraftPick, those people began to say good things about him; at the beginning of the season, since he didn't play very well, those people made fun on him again, but NOW they couldn't say shit!

23.4ppg. But Shaq had grown up in the US game, and had 3 years of college of against some future NBA players. Yao hasn't had that.

As a chinese, i feel really happy with Yao's performance. He is growing, and he is going to have a lot of great games. We are proud of him. Basketball is one of the most popular sports in China, basketball is a part of our life. I think Yao is showing a new China to the world.

i think it would be a good idea to monitor ming's playing time because he may wear out before season's end. keep in mind he's been playing in all of these tournaments and hasn't had a chance to enjoy an offseason to rest.

it doesn't seem like something he would do but it would be nice if Ming yelled after a big block or dunk. he probably knows that at least one player in each game is going to try to dunk on him, so why not show a little emotion when he serves up some facials on opposing players?

i don't know if anyone else noticed it but- does it look like he is smirking sometimes after he scores a bucket?

LOL... u can't say that, the season started a month ago!!!

Saw the game and though I think he'll be a prime star as long he stays healthy, Robinson and Duncan - when he had to mark him in a couple of plays- were damn soft, I think Willis made a better job, that from a guy thats 40yo, but as most NBA teams r going with PF at C he'll have a good chance to do whatever he wants, if u let him get near the hoop u r screwed, if u keep him away he s still dangerous though, takes his shot over his head so only Bradly could disturb him without havnig to jump on tippy toes every second.
Hope they show LAkers vs Rockets here, would love to see matchup vs Shaq, he aint playing witht he same intensity he used to, maybe finally facing sumone that -eventually- can match his primacy among C will hype him.
