I wholeheartedly agree.

Me thinks it all went down to team records. Lakers became no.1 in the West so the media voted Kobe.

you are a fucking retard. that makes no damn sense. how does not being a fag for kobe make you cool? also how can you not know paul? if you watch basketball you know paul, if you dont know paul then who fucking cares what that idiot has to say in relation to basketball anyway?

It's the Jemele Hill defense. If all else fails, play the hater card.

You still haven't gotten over that eh?

I would of voted for Kobe ahead of Chris Paul. Chris Paul is like an Iverson crossed with Nash. He scores like Nash, passes like Nash, but plays defense like Iverson used to. He is one hell of a player, but...

He does not provide the team defense Kobe does. Kobe is, from what I've seen, a top 5 help defender in the league. Plus he is awesome on the ball. Sure Chris Paul can steal the ball, but can he slow a great scorer down? I haven't seen him do that in his career.

Plus Peja, Chandler and West are a really good supporting cast. If anything, I'd say it's not a supporting cast. It's their team. Paul is a part of that. Kobe has players around him but the Lakers begin and end with Kobe. I can't say that about New Orleans. If Peja goes down, or West, do you think the Hornets will win one more game the playoffs? I can't see them doing that.

But in the end, I think this is the wrong decision for the 4th year in a row. 2005 should of been Iverson. 2006 should of been Kobe. 2007 should of been McGrady. And this year I think it should of been Lebron.

Should I answer this in a poll?

31 ppg, 8 apg, 2spg and 4 rpg. But to me the most impressive thing about his 2005 season was he did this with virtually no help all season. Webber was playing on one leg (and was only there for 21 games). Iggy was a rookie. And Marc Jackson ( :!: ) was their second leading scorer. Despite all this Iverson still got Philly into the playoffs.

When Kobe gets his MVP award tomorrow, Dr. Jerry Buss should get some sort of an award too for sticking with Kobe and opening up the team coffers when it mattered to acquire Gasol. Plus, he is a big time poker player.

I'm not upset by it. It's just an example that came to mind since a big part of her argument seemed to be that anyone who doesn't look it at the same way isn't being objective or is simply a hater. I suppose it was a bit gratuitous since that column was written some time ago.

That said, I don't doubt that a lot of people oppose the idea of Kobe being the MVP simply because they don't like him and such people could be described as "haters". But just because a person wanted another player to win or felt another player was just as deserving (if not moreso) doesn't make them a hater. You stating that you thought LeBron should have won this year doesn't make you a hater.

You can make a strong case for Paul, KG, or LeBron, but automatically calling anyone not picking Kobe to be a Kobe-hater is just plain ignorant.

 I didn't automatically call him a "hater" (I didn't even use that term either...)

It's amazing how people waddle into threads, read something from the beginning and respond to it which has nothing to do with the current conversation and think it's relevant.

But I have to admit it's funny how someone can post "I just think he is better", but the person who responds to that ignorant comment is the ignorant one. Whatever. I'd prefer talking to a brick wall then you.

Is this a shot at me? I made the topic; I posted my two cents; you questioned my opinion and I answered you.

Not that much so. I don't think I would trade Chandler, West, Pargo and Peja for Gasol, Odom, Sasha and Walton.

Totally agree with you man... It's not true that Kobe's supporting cast is better.

I'm glad for Kobe, but i read an article, where it said, why Paul deserves it more. A guy, who leads a team to their first ever division title (Paul) and brings basketball back to New Orleans. The seats were pretty empty to start the season. Or the guy who wanted be traded from the organization one day, then didn't the next day...

I think Kobe deserved it and Paul will have his chance in a few years.

(I also don't like Kobe. )

im curious, who wants to use 82games.com and compare the starting 5 and assume the mvp candidates are almost similar
http://82games.com/USORT13.HTM

Has LAL as the 2nd best while NOH as pretty far down the list

Not saying kobe didnt deserve it... but to me the caliber of your team shouldnt matter. If you are more valuable to a bad team then it should go to you plain and simple. Paul will get one soon enough as will Lebron. Let the vets get theirs, have their bodies break down (Nash), and then retire. The young blood will be vets by then and will start winning them.

Edit: i realize not every stat is on the list i posted but very few of them have NOH over LAL

Edit 2: The idiot who said the MVP is a team award: stop repeating kobes speech. He said that so he didnt look like an ass but you can hear in his lack of conviction in his voice that he's thinking "FUCK YALL TOOK ME LONG ENOUGH"
