American Gladiators

I don't know if many people outside the US know abuot this show, but the second coming of the "new" American Gladiators was on tonight.

It was obviously better than the first makeshift version which was a way for NBC to have new programming during the writer's strike, but with a bigger arena this season will be better than the last one.

any fans of the original series here?

Seen the pilot last week, too bad I can only remember Joust and the Eliminator among all the events.

We've had a re-make of our own Gladiators series as well. It's doing fairly well. Only watched one episode out of 5 or 6. But it was essentially the same. Cheese upon cheese. Appalling Presenters and awesome overacting.

Hulk Hogan makes everything better. Well, except movies. My fave event from old school and new school is assault (the one where they try to shoot the target above the gladiator but the gladiator is shooting tennis balls at them). Not sure how it tests athletic ability (most athletics dont require dodging) but its fun either way

I saw the pilot and it looked way more 'over the top' then it used to be, like they gave the contestants lines or something, or they are worse actors. Maybe it's because I was younger back then.

I simply can't believe NBC trashed a high-quality scripted series such as Journeyman to pick up this reality garbage.
