Why were you disappointed?
You actually preferred Will Smith diving into the monsters with a grenade better?
So hammertime23 is an action man.

Sun Apr 06, 2008 10:57 am

yes shadowgrin i am.
I just thought that the alternate ending was kind of corny, like no zombies would ever become sensitive and have feelings all of a sudden, especially that one crazy one that he "communicates" with at the end. I would also think he would kill will smith after he gave him the girl. that's just me though, I mean i thought the original ending was way more action packed, and the very end when the girl and her son get to the colony was a perfect ending.
Sun Apr 06, 2008 10:59 am

were they actually zombies? i just thought they were infected which caused them to act like that

Mon Apr 07, 2008 10:20 am

hammertime:
The point of the alternate ending was that the vampires see Will Smith as a "vampire." The whole time Will Smith thought he was trying to save the human race, but the ending gave perspective that the vampires see him as a monster. Thus, he is legend, just how we consider a vampire as a legend.

Note: not saying they're vampires, or zombies, but they're their own race.
That's how the book is.

The thing about that movie that i dont understand is.....
When the girl reaches the colony how did she get off Manhattan when the bridges were blown up and it was sealed off etc. In fact how did she get on there in the first place...??and manage to find a brand new car etc.
The thing about that movie that i dont understand is.....
I'm pretty sure there were a number of boats they could use. Manhatan isn't exactly offshore. There are also a few tunnels that go under the water. There seems to be an abundance of cars everywhere. She probably just went to a dealership.
I am mad at myself for not watching "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" sooner. What an awesome movie.

My favorite movie. It took me a while to see it too.

I watched Blood Diamond & Clerks II yesterday on my day off of work. it was what was on HBO at the time.

Blood Diamond was a pretty good movie and I was shocked at the decent performance Leo gave in it. Good storyline, although somewhat predictable.

Clerks II had a storyline which surprised me and turned out to be a halfway decent movie. Rosario Dawson was lookinng good, as usual

"Some angry rotarian shoves you and you find yourself saying "Dogs fucked the pope...no fault of mine"

Hunter Thompson was a legend and this movie gets that across. I also enjoy Where the Buffalo Roam but not quite as much as Fear and Loathing. Even my warcrack character is named drgonzo.

As for movies; I watched Juno this morning. Not sure what all the buzz was about. Dont get me wrong, it was good, it was funny, it was pretty heartfelt, but there was nothing that made me go "holy fuck this movies the best thing i've ever seen." Guessing i'm the wrong gender for it.

Juno's a chick flick. I'm not sure what all the dudes at the IMDb forums are talking about when they say it's "way better than Superbad".

Wed Apr 16, 2008 12:50 am

I liked Juno, but god damn was that movie overrated. I mean, honest to blog homeskillet; a best picture nomination?

Wed Apr 16, 2008 4:25 am

I enjoyed it too. It's just not what I expected, I mean when you read about guys calling it their "favorite movie ever", you expect something like Superbad or at the very least like American Pie.

I guess I just had very high expectations about the movie and it did not meet them.

Wed Apr 16, 2008 4:32 am

Funny, sarcastic, and heartfelt like i said. But agreed that does not make a best picture. The soundtrack and the acting were also top notch. Everything else? meh. Been there done that got several tshirts. I just heard how great it was the whole time and then i saw it and honestly? it was predictable once you understood Juno's character. There was never any doubt or risk to the resolution. *shrug*

As a big Tim Burton fan, I had to see Sweeney Todd, and even though I'm definitely not into musicals, it was quite enjoyable. Get very Burton-esque after a while.
Also saw The Kite Runner, which a fantastic movie about 3 decades in Afghanistan through the eyes of two childhood friends. All the actors do a wonderful job.

Why were you shocked? Are you just realizing Leo is a great actor?

Where were you during What's Eating Gilbert Grape, Basketball Diaries, Gangs of New York, Catch Me If You Can and The Departed? All fantastic performances.

I'm not even listing The Aviator which he was nominated for best actor in because I didn't see it.

Fri Apr 18, 2008 11:59 pm

let's just say the last movie I saw with Leo in it was Titanic

True, Blood Diamond is quite a performance too. So is the Aviator.

I just saw it. I thought it wasn't as funny as Superbad, but I thought it was well-written. Diablo Cody did a great job as the writer, and Ellen Page was very convincing as an actress. A good, smart movie.

Also saw Cinderella Man (fantastic), The Elephant Man (very good), and The Assassination of Jesse James (very, very good. Really liked the "dual" ending).

Finally, also watched There Will Be Blood. It's slow at times, but it kept me through from start to finish. Daniel Day-Lewis is just a brilliant, brilliant actor, and he did an excellent job in his sinister role.

Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay-The long awaited sequel? Funny as hell, but not as good as the first. may have been affected by the fucktards singing the songs in the movie theatre, and quoting it...pretty much it

Forgetting Sarah Marshall-Also funny shit worth seeing. Better than Knocked up and 40 year old, but not as good as superbad.

Also saw Baby Mama and Forbidden Kingdom, both exceeded expectations
Thats bout it

Forgetting Sarah Marshall- Absolutely loved it!! It was really funny. It's very similar to Superbad, Knocked Up, and 40 year old virgin in the "hillarious one-liners" part.
I loved all of those movies, I just wish they wouldn't show most of the funny parts in the trailers....kinda kills the humor of it when watching the movie.

I also saw Juno the other day...funny and entertaining movie, Ellen Page, aside from being a really cute girl, fit the role perfectly. (Y)
