Strange FG% (away advantage?) & prob. with steals

Wed Apr 23, 2008 8:26 am

Hi.

1) I don't understand the interior scripts of Live 2005. In home games I miss loads of three-pointers while I hit shot after shot in away games. Is this a bug? It should be the other way round.

I hit 21% from the floor in the first quarter at home...in the second I suddenly got better.

I hit 75% (!) from the floor in the first quarter away...in the second quarter I could not score anymore.

Is this a rule? One quarter bad = the next quarter good and vice versa?
The game is ALWAYS close! When I pull away the computer starts hitting everything and I miss my shots. No, cpu assistance is turned OFF.
Especially in the fourth quarter I miss and the computer scores...to seal the win.

I can't win games.

2) I use Andrew's sliders with some slight modifications. I left stealing as it was. Steals are ok except for players with the tight D-icon. When I defend with Marbury and press the button I get the ball so often. I always get 5-6 steals in a 40-minute-game. When I decrease the slider it is better but other players cannot get the ball anymore.

It also works not to switch defenders but run around with Marbury and strip the ball. It's kinda boring but I have to do it as I cannot win games.

3) I also feel bad when the computer's AI is not existent. I played with Eddie Curry against F. Oberto. I can push my "defender" around, dunk on him...but Tim Duncan doesn't help Oberto. The Spurs do not use a double team. It is always Curry vs. Oberto with the strong Eddie dominating him. Oberto soon had five fouls.

All in all I played about 10 games with the same settings and every game is all the same. I hit nothing or everything first, then it is the other way round.

When I lead in the fourth quarter the computer makes his shots and pulls away...and I lose because my shots don't fall in.

In Live 2003 I sometimes had 90 points, sometimes 120...the range was 85-125. In Live 2005 the scores mirror each other...sometimes I even have the same number of FGAs.

When the game is still undecided the computer hits his magic three-pointer...then has a run...then passes the ball around till the clock is down. And I lose. :(

We had the same problem when playing Live 2005. I really hate having a good first quarter then having a very bad second quarter and not hitting easy and open shots. :x

What I did is I edited CPU's close shot, mid-range shot and three-point shot in the sliders and make it a little lower than user sliders to make the game fair.

I just played with default rosters. I entered the fourth quarter with a lead...and ended it with a loss, shooting 0-9 in the quarter, with DEFAULT sliders. I shot over 60% the rest of the game...

I think the only way to avoid those blowouts (except playing with the sliders) is to attempt many shots from close range or from under the basket. When you suddenly can't hit a shot, dribble or go as close to the basket as you can. Also if you have athletic big men and good dribbling, fast guards, go for easy dunks and lay-ups. If you have a good 3 point shooter, try to make him wide open and take many open shots, you should make them so often. In my Suns 05 dynasty (superstar, default sliders) I was shooting 3s with Nash at about 45%.
