Eastern Conf. Quarterfinals: Pistons V. Sixers

Postby Lamrock on Wed Apr 16, 2008 1:00 am

Okay, here is the last of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals threads: Pistons vs. Sixers (who last faced in a 2-7 seed series in 2005). Who will win?

I'm saying Pistons in 5.

Hopefully Philly can take at least 2 games, but that will be hard. 2 good defensive minded teams face, it´s gonna be interesting. They have been 2-2 this season, but just like Spurs, Detroit have experience to take it over in PO. Actually I like better that we´re facing Pistons, not Magic, although it may be harder.

Another first round sweep.

I just don't see Philly really having any advantages over Detroit at any position. Iguodala is more rounded than most of the Detroit all-stars, but not markedly better, and certainly could be shut down in the half-court game.

I don't expect the Sixers to score nearly enough to keep up with DET.

I'm with Lamrock, I think the sixers will at least take one game from the pistons.

No it wasn't because it gave more talented players like Carney and Young more playing time and additionally freed up some cap space. They didn't need him anyways. All that plus - most importantly - the fact that I couldn't stand him made it a pretty good trade.

I say Pistons in 6. The 76ers should put up a good fight, but not good enough to make it through the next round..

Pistons in five. The way the Sixers have turned their season around and clawed they way into the seventh seed, I believe they can squeeze out one win in the series and won't embarrass themselves, but Detroit's moving on.

SIXERS WERE FOOLISH TO DEAL KORVER!

No seriously, Detroit is too deep for Philly, like they were for Orlando in 07 and Milwaukee in 06. Both were five-game series.

Pistons in 6. Sixers do match up well with them, but they're way too inexperienced to upset the Pistons.

The Pistons are the best offensive team in the East, the Sixers are the second worst offensive team in the Eastern playoffs.

Is that head-to-head or against the rest of the East/League?

Seems like I'm the only one who voted for the Sixers to win in 4.

Detroit in 5, if the Sixers can extend it to 6 then that's enough of an accomplishment from them this season.

I said Pistons in 5 also, too much experience for the young Sixers but a good learning curve for the future.

Even tough Pistons can see it an easy win. Pistons in 6 might be my vote

Im Philly fan but i'll still say Pistons in 6.
Philly guys are too young to handle Pistons, but u never know what will happen. Some Pistons guys might get injured and Philly might win them, but thats just MIGHT.

detroit in...3 games

seriously, this might be a yawner if Dtown controls the tempo and keeps everything in the half-court style.

as they put in on pistons.com, "50 seasons. 1 reason. It's Time."

i seriously hope the pistons dont slip away with a win in this game because of billups acting skills

edit: nice to see the sixers take game 1 though i think it will be thier only win of the series. they already proved my prediction wrong once already though

Wow, I might just have to bandwagon this team. Their scrappy play makes it really tempting to root for them, nice win over Detroit. Although Detroit will definitely rebound and still take the series, but might take 6 games, I think.
