You still haven't gotten over having to use the joystick for movement? Dont expect it to ever change..lol. It works perfectly with how the gameplay for nba live is now....if i were you i'd get used to it. (y)

:?: how are dribble moves done on ESPN? Do they have freestyle control like live with a analog stick, or is it just seperate buttons?

Hey i just thought of something.

Wouldn't it be cool if in 24/7 mode, after lots of training and winning street games and getting a real high rep, you could get drafted into the NBA... :o

I know it's kinda rough around the edges, and nearly all NBA players were in college first...but something along the lines of getting involved in the NBA would be sweet.

I think it's(IsoMotion is what they call it) much more responsive than Live's. The defense is much more reactive to it too. There's also IsoMotion defense, where you can control the lanes and take charges with it.

Umm, ESPN messed up royally on the lack of edit number, and Yao Ming's jersey has "MING" in the back instead of "YAO." How stupid! I trade Arenas to the Magic, now Arenas and Gooden have "0." I can't edit the numbers! I think Jumaine Jones also has "33" for the Celtics. And "7" has been retired by the Jazz, yet Keon Clark has it in the game. Stupid idiots. It's cool that they have Drazen Petrovic, and Kareem, but Kareem's name is not announced.

Honestly, those screenshots are from a replays, the actual ingame graphics are not that good/detail. I have the x box version--I've played about 5 games and it lacks the total control that I get when Im play Live. I'm getting a late reaction on my shoot button for some reason. It likes take a second after I push the button for the player to shoot in some instances. I can recall yelling "shoot the god**** ball already" a few times. I still will reserve my judgment because it is a solid game, I haven't even touched 24/7 mode but I've played 21 with 2 of my boys. I like the fact we can put our own music in the street mode and menus.

The edit a player feature is lacking especially with the numbers, kinda sucks having to play with a player with the wrong number. For some players in the NBA--that's there identity and when it's wrong it takes some minor realism out of the game.

I play on "fast" and the animations are no where as fluid as Live's , as of right now--I've been spoiled with live's sliders and animations. But I wanna give ESPN it's fair share.

I'll post a review after I go through franchise and maybe a few more games under my belt!

I haven't played 2k4 / espn basketball as yet; but i surely believe that it's worth buying; because.... nba live has been making ball games since 1994 /95, and this is ea's 9th or 10th nba live game.

This is only sega's 5th (nba 2k, 2k1, 2k2, 2k3 & 2k4)! And clearly, sega is the better ball game; oh, and let me say i'm not a 2k fan because the only 2k i've ever played and have, is nba 2k2 for ps2... i didn't play 2k3!

Madden is ea's best game, and sega a few years ago released it's first football game 2k2, 2k3, and now nfl 2k4; and they got better ratings than madden did the last couple years.

I don't know about u guys, but i'm looking forward to nba 2k4, i'm not buying live 2004, cause i bought live 2003 last year, and each year i plan on buying one; so this year it's 2k4, next year live 2005 etc...

I have have played and owned every single nba live made to date except live 2004; and i have only played on nba 2k, and that was 2k2; and i'm telling you it was the best ball game i've ever played since live 99, which i think was the best nba live ever! I don't know what there doing up at sega, but all i can say is "keep up the good work"!

Thats not true. Sega's first football game was NFL 2k for the dreamcast

Sad to hear that my friend...cause you're missing out. The opinion about either game is like night and day...and you'd have to play both to decide which one is best. However, there is no question that live 2004 is the best live ever.

I second that. After renting ESPN, I have come to the conclusion that it's strictly graphics, no gameplay. IF you have just seen pics of it. Of course it's gonna be better because the graphics are better, but NBA Live is better everywhere else.
