Here's another one: You start seeing some of your favourite childhood shows being remade for your children/nephews/nieces' generation.

Supposedly the newer series are more in line with the original comics, though I'm still partial to the 1987 series. For fun, I even downloaded the 1989 arcade game from Xbox Live Arcade. :)

Haha, cute. Transformers were my favorite toys, along with TMNT, back in my young, young years. It's crazy how long ago it really is considering it's already 200-freaking-8.

That's just happened for me with The Drew Carey Show, which is now being shown on Foxtel's Fox Classics channel along with classic movies and older TV series. Everybody Loves Raymond and Third Rock From The Sun are also in the Fox Classics lineup at the moment as well. I've never watched much of either but they also stand out against the rest of the programming on the channel.

I wasn't aware of a yo-yo revival. Is this an Aussie thing or am I seriously missing something?

Not recently but it's one of those fads that seems to come back every 10-15 years. I remember they came back here around 1996/1997, so it seems about time for yo-yos to become popular again.

oh god, so much time and money spent on pogs...i still have no idea why, they were ust freaking awesome.

I think my biggest getting older sign is having no idea what kids are talking about with certain things even though i thouht i knew it pretty well...examples :

I was working a camp and was talking to this 10 year old who i had just met. Trying to find common ground i found out she liked music so i asked who she listened to. "Chris browns my favorite" (this was before he got big i guess) I have never heard a song by him and based on his MTV Video awards performance i dont intend to.

I was once again trying to find common ground with a 9 year old at another camp after he exclaimed Woah you have a beard!. I found out he liked video games and his favorite game was pokemon. I'm sure i had all 151 (with gameshark of course) at some point or another and he asked me to guess his favorite. After guessing about 30 or so i gave up and he said a pokemon i have never heard of and still couldnt name. apparently there's like 300 of the fuckers now.

I feel the same way about basketball cards. My cousin and I used to scrape together whatever loose change we had and head down the street to buy a couple of packs of cards from a vending machine or one of the stores that still sold them into the mid 90s. The money we could have saved...mind you, I still find myself thinking I could have a lot more in my savings if I didn't buy this or that. That's probably a sign I'm getting older too, being aware of how much money I'm spending on certain things.

I think they were banned at my school back in the day. Basketball cards were also banned in 1993 or 1994 when a few kids were severely ripped off and traded $20 Michael Jordan inserts for a handful of cards that weren't worth nearly as much combined. Marbles enjoyed a brief comeback in 1993 at my school but they got banned when someone decided to throw one and it knocked someone else's tooth out.

I'd agree with that, it's very easy to do once you've fallen into the routine of adult life. Certain dates tend to sneak up on you.

I don't think it has to do with age, I mean I'm sixteen and I forgot Easter too.

In fact I forgot my own birthday this year, I forgot most my friends' and family's birthdays.

I get a little upset when I hear about Pogs. I don't know whether it was because it took my entire Christmas one year, or if I was 2 pogs away from completing the entire original collection.

You used a gameshark, you suck. I did it without gameshark, mewtwo or mew can only be acquired by trading, can't remember exactly.
Guess that makes me a geek.

Those critters did become more when they released silver, gold, and some others after the originals (red, blue, yellow...). I lost interest after finding out that there are new ones.

Only for Mew...Mewtwo was the fucker you could only catch with your master ball and if you fucked up and killed him he was gone for good. i always cheated and got the umpteen master ball glitch so i could catch everything.

I feel old just by thinking about some of the television shows that I like. Seinfeld being my favorite, and yet none of the younger generation really knows anything about it. And I can remember back to when shows like Who Wants to be a Millionaire (with Regis) were on, and it seems like just yesterday when in fact it is now close to 10 years.

Anytime you can describe events, games, movies, TV shows or music that you remember vividly from when they were new as having aged ten years or finishing ten years ago you certainly start to feel old. The Simpsons being in its 19th season is a good example for me.

Seeing that Red Meat comic makes me feel old. I remember reading it during my late teen years. Maybe it's time to start that habit again.

I remember now. Milkman Dan is awesome . . . . .
