I went through all 3 Major Ball games for the Xbox last season, but this year, Live was calling my name, so I had to give it a shot.
First, I went over to Kredit's house, and played the game with him and I was VERY impressed. There were a lot of things that I didnt like about the game, but Sunday afternoon, after church, I was bored so I went to the video store, and HAD to rent a game. So I rented Live.
I got home, made sliders based on the gameplay LAST YEAR, I was enjoying the game a lot, fixing sliders as I go along. So after I figured I had all of the sliders good, I played a game late last night: Sacramento @ LAL, I was Sac.
The stands were filled, and first off, the atmosphere was right on target. I started out the game hitting almost every shot I threw up, and the Lakers just weren't hitting. I thought I had my sliders all goofed up, BUT I kept playing, thinking the game could be better than I think.
So I kept playing and eventually the Lakers came back and the game felt like something late night on TNT. The Czar, and Marv Albert just put me in that mood. At Halftime, the Lakers overcame a 19 point deficit and led 52-51. So far so perfect.
In the second half, the game went back and forth and the crowd was still REALLY into it. To make it short, the Lakers ended up winning at the end, 110-100. Here are the stats:
Chris Webber -27 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assist
Mike Bibby -8 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assist
Peja Stojakovic - 18 points, 9 rebounds
Kobe Bryant 34 points, 3 assist, 6 rebounds
Shaq 24 points, 11 rebounds
Malone 9 points, 9 rebounds
Payton 15 points, 7 assist, 8 rebounds
Sac
40% FGs, 23 assist, 49 rebounds
LaL
45% Fgs, 19 assist, 56 rebounds
The subs were put in perfect as well. Im BUYING THIS GAME THIS YEAR !!!!
I will post my sliders when I get home, because right no I am at school

Yehcool sounds good. I'd like to here those slider levels. Did you adjust them radically, or just slightly. Cos I was planning not to change any sliders when I get my copy, except the fatigue I'll put on 50. But if it's unrealistic with default sliders I'll have to change some. Are the default slider levels way off or..?

you have to change it, otherwise you will get so many interceptions and double teams

I don't know about you guys, but I like keeping the sliders as is except for shooting. I have short range, medium range, and long range all at 40 instead of 50 in hopes of keeping the score lower. I play 12 min quarters and can usually score 100-110 points. Unfortunately, the computer is scoring 110-120 points. I figure my defense will get better after 5-10 more games. To me, the sliders are just fine. Of course, I turn the subsitution frequency up from 0 to about 30-35.

The rebound counts are a bit high, but if everything else is on the money, well this game will just rock. Pretty much a good game if the stats are good.
The dynasty raises some concerns, but I will pass judgement when I get the game.

word up yo i just played 3 games against my cousin on his xbox and this game is pretty dope,
the pro hop is only good when used in certain situations but if u abuse it u will be stuck holding the ball,it took me a half a game to get used to the 2 shoot buttons.
the defense is off the hook,i love the blocking and how u can have a birage of blocks in a short span of time and the ball doesnt get sent into the nosebleed seats.on a scale of 1-10 i give it a 9.5
if u a live baller like me you gonna like this game.
they need hurry up and stop procrastinating on the pc version already.

I think I mite leave the sliders as they are except for fatigue. I like to say that I mastered the game as it was presented to me. So even if it has too many interceptions and doubles I just go with it. I don't use auto-sub so I don't have to worry about that one. I'm starting on superstar level straight away (I've played every nba live game on superstar level only). I like playing 40min games, so for those of you who have played 10min quarters, what kind of scores do you get? I'm playing as the Bulls and I plan to take a while to get adjusted. I expect I will lose most of my first 20 games but hopeful become very good after the all-star break and scrape into the playoffs. No big deal if I don't, there's always the next season.

CHHAMP, ventured over from the Bulls RealGM board, I see. I also started at Superstar level with the Bulls. I'm 0-5 in Dynasty, including 2 games that went to OT. I should've been 1-4, but apparently Brent Barry has 90 ft. range when there's less than 3 seconds left in the game. I still can't believe he hit that! Anyways, I'm not too worried that I'm losing. I just got the game a week ago and figured that the computer AI should be tough enough for me to want to improve. Now, if I had the game for a month and was using the Lakers, that'd be a totally different story. Overall, I love this game. I'm impressed with how fun it is playing against other people. That to me makes up for the deficiencies in Dynasty mode. If you play online with the PS2, look for HINrichPolice!

Awesome, I love starting off with a struggle. Nothing worse than not having a challenge. And yeah even the 90 foot treys on the buzzer are welcome now and then, just to bring some emotion into the game. Yeah I think it would be an absolute blast playing online, so many variables when you group the overall game factors with the unknown of the human opponent. Though I have no idea how to hook up to the net with ps2, I'd like to. Tell me how and I'll meet you there. I get the game October 30.

Just buy a modem for your PS2. I got one for about $30. However, if you don't have broadband/cable connection, it's pretty worthless. Also, there's no sign-up or membership fee. It should pretty much be plug and play. Actually, I changed my handle from HINrichPolice to "c c c C Unit" when I play Live online. Let me know when you get the modem!
