NBA Street Vol 2

Postby [Q] on Fri Feb 01, 2008 5:45 am

So I pulled Street 2 out the other night and I forgot how good that game was. I got kinda excited when the intro music came up. i played against my roommate, and he's a bitch because he always picks the Lakers. So like most teams around that time, I found myself trying to find someone to stop Shaq. I did manage to get a win with Orlando (Tmac/Hill/Kemp) but none of the newer Street games have recaptured not only the simplicity of Vol 2 with the 4 turbo buttons, the gamebreakers, off the heezay, kick passing, passing off the backboard, etc. It's a shame because the rosters are quite outdated from the 2002/03 season so I was bummed that I couldn't play as some of my new favorite players, CP3 and Brandon Roy. Some of the 2002 rookies are in the game, but it's funny to think that the next year, the Lakers could've drafted Josh Howard but got Brian Cook instead. imagine how they would've done with Howard with the hall of fame lineup. but anyways, I had a lot of good times with that game and i might start playing it again...

It's by far the best out of the series. I just wish I could have hacked that roster file...

Yea, that would have been too good.

In my opinion it's still the best basketball game ever, and with all the nostalgia value it's still great. The controls are top notch.

so I started a new legend mode. My roommate already beat the game so I can start out with the free legend tricks, dunks, and jeresys. I love the Magic Johnson trick.

Man for some reason on medium difficulty I'm having trouble getting past the first tournament lol
Stretch's long range game is killing me.

The only real nagging about the game is in my opinion the difficulty. The medium level feels just right but you win all the time. The most difficult one is too pushed, since no tricks work and it doesn't feel natural.

I also remember having problems getting past the first tournament but eventually you can get past it ;) just guard stretch. And after winning you can recruit him.

Good times...

I just spent a little bit and created a bunch of 08 versions of teams. I did, Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Suns, Nets, and Rockets. Uniforms are way off for these teams but it was pretty fun playing as Ray Pierce and Allen and going against Pau Kobe and Kwame (couldn't think of a better third). The combos of Nash Amare and Shaq and TMac, Francis and Yao were pretty unstoppable as well.

When I get back home I might create players like Lebron, Melo Chris Paul ect and do as full as an update as I can. Do you guys know what the limit is on the create a team?

I have no idea. I haven't really played around much with the create a team. for the Lakers, I'd say Kobe, Odom, Pau.

Wow, Jao that's a good idea. Too bad they can only be used for exhibition and the create a player is inferior to the one in V3. That was the only thing that was better + the store, otherwise Vol. 2 owns.

the create a court was pretty nice as well. dunk contest was kinda fun and the fact that the rim actually bends when the player dunks (really my only nitpick thing with vol 2)

I picked up NBA Street Homecourt the other day. I didn't think it could beat Vol. 2, but in my opinion, it just might. I really like it.

NBA Street Vol. 2 Was definitely the best in the series. I didn't try #3, and I demoed Homecourt and felt just so.. weird. I wish EA would offer some sort of roster update so we could play it with the updated rosters. I beat the be a legend mode years ago and then last year I retried it again, and I ended up 10 points short to get to play in Rucker Park, and had maxed out all the tournaments and other games and couldn't remember how to get the remaining 10 points so I gave up. Might restart it again though because of this thread. Great game, I'd pay 60 bucks if they re-released it for the 360..

I "updated" it with the create a team feature but it def needs to be officially updated.

The only real reason I want a PSP is because that Street: Showdown game is on it. Came out ~ the same time as vol 3 but ran off the v2 engine.

Arguably the best in the series :)
The All-Jordan team made it sick!
V3 was still pretty good. They got rid of some street legends but whatever.
I'll probably get Homecourt because CP3 and the new guys are there ;)
What I don't get about V3 is Chris Bosh wasn't on the Raptors!
They had Rose, Marshall, Alston, Mo-Pete and ERIC WILLIAMS!

Is Homecourt worth getting even with the older rosters :?:

If you can, rent it first. If you can't, download and play the demo first. It is a pretty good representation of the final game.

Homecourt is a rental-only. It is pretty fun, but its short, and lacks the replay value to warrant a purchase.

On another note, I love Volume 2 also. Definitely the best of the series.

I've gotta agree with that first part. It was way short. I beat 'challenge' mode or whatever it's called, and have all but like 3 of the achievements (the online win streak ones)... in maybe like 3 1/2-4 hours of play. If that. But, the game was like 14 bucks used at GameStop, so I think I'd call it worth it. I'll probably play it online once in a while.

My hand hurt after playing too much Homecourt. Too much button-mashing for my tastes.

I bought a copy for 5 bucks the other day and i tried creating present day teams in the custom team menu.

the Pau Kobe Odom tandem is pretty vicious.
Shaq Amare and Nash seems unstoppable.

man i would pay anything for the same game with updated rosters and online gameplay.
