You don't point anything out I could say this is biased and/or "nonsensical"

benji wrote:Williams "led" the Jazz? Boozer's 24/12 didn't?

ehhh Boozer seems to disappear on the road while Deron shows up for every game and is the only player for the jazz that is consistent both at home and away.

Don't get me wrong I think CP3 is just as good or better. It just comes down the kind of point guard you like. I like Deron more for his size.

Well, Paul is averaging 4 rebounds, while williams is averaging only 2.9 so if you ask me, size doesnt count that much here

Yup, Deron is taller/stronger, but Paul still has better numbers. So size isn't too much of an advantage.

What I mean by size is he can take more hits. He took a hit from Shaq last week and got the and 1 on a 10-15 footer. I don't think he really goes for rebounds. With Boozer,Okur,Millsap and company I don't really see why he would.

well I think the fact that he has only David West to help him has to do with my decision. Peja is wildly inconsistent and can go 1-11 any given night. Tyson is a little unpolished on the offesive end, so CP & West carry the workload there. Plus, their bench is subpar. In Utah, their offesive structure helps them get easy buckets whenever the pick & roll w/ Boozer doesn't work.

and in my opinion, the reason why Deron is a solid playoff-tested player is because last year both CP & David West missed a lot of games down the stretch with injuries, so the Hornets slipped out of the playoff race like the year before despite being in it the whole season.

Seems to...but does he?
Boozer home: 22.6/11.2/2.8, 62% shooting, 13% turnover rate, 2.3 off rebounds
Boozer away: 21.7/10.9/3.3, 54% shooting, 12% turnover rate, 2.7 off rebounds

His shooting percentage drops, but is that "disappearing"?

For fairness:
Williams home: 18.2/2.9/11.0, 60% shooting, 19% turnover rate
Williams away: 18.7/2.8/9.0, 59% shooting, 18% turnover rate

joejam999,

Gotta agree with Benji there. It actually seems that Deron actually suffers a worse road drop, since his % drop in assists is larger than Boozer's % drop in Field Goal percent. And maybe those 2 less assists are why Boozer shoots 54% on the road... Maybe not, but this still proves your argument wrong.

As for your argument, aside of the last 4-5 games, you didn't bring any stats. (And even those were just estimates), then you made an unproven statement about Deron being the team MVP before bitching about him not getting as much love as CP3.

benji,

Well shit... I went out of hand with my post, especially since I also support CP3 over Deron, and went off-topic debating the little things in your post I disagreed with. I'll drop the leader argument, as it is subjective. As for the numbers argument, I was simply saying they were close and that Paul actually put up slightly better numbers, but I suppose with the PER they weren't.

The T-Mac thing...

I think the reason Deron scores more and gets less assists on the road is because he has to take over those games more then the ones at home. The jazz just suck on the road this year. last year they were 20-21. Doesn't sound so great but if they did that this year they could probably be 1-3 seed.

He takes 13.1 fga per 36 at home, 13.7 fga per 36 on the road.

And what's the deal with seedless watermelon?

An aberation of nature.
The poll should have been about this, for or against these freaks.

I like Deron Williams, but Chris Paul is prettier.

I agree. Deron's gotta shave. That goatee makes him look disgusting. On a related note, Drew Gooden's a lost cause.

I always thought that when they said "true PG" they simply meant a pass-first PG like Steve Nash or Andre Miller, and I just sort of accepted it as that. I think its just a flawed term.

As Lamrock gets at, is that "true" though? Even accounting for the fact that assists were pretty much barely handed out back then, point guards in the 50s didn't rack up assists. Indeed, many teams didn't even have a specified ballhandler and distributor, it's a more recent development along the lines of the "rebounder" specialist.

I guess you could say that "true point guard" is at best a blanket term to describe a player whose abilities and approach to the game are regarded as being ideal to the role point guards are seen as having in the modern game. Players who don't seem to fit the contemporary point guard role but are thrust into it because they're too small to play shooting guard or out of necessity therefore wouldn't be "true" point guards. Perhaps it would be accurate to also suggest that in this case, "true" is a synonym for "natural".
