Do you have an illegal copy of the game or are you trying to use a No CD patch with the legal version? If so, that will be the cause of the crash. Otherwise, the problem might lie with a community-made patch you're using.

Yeap as soon as I uninstalled the downloaded rost the game runs fine. I've been trying to fix it up but to no avail :( I also am trying to put in my own port into the game and this might be one of the problems.

Which update are you using? Because some rosters are based around custom aiact.viv files and others aren't, some rosters won't be compatible with certain aiact.viv files that have been installed by other updates which will lead to the game crashing.

I've been using NBA Live 08 NLSC Current Roster Update but now I switched to Albys' Realistic NBA Live 08 Roster Patch and it seems to work fine. I run Dynasty for a couple of seasons with no problems also edited a couple of things with editor and it also seems to be fine. I have a couple of questions though:

1) is there a way to set a maximum salary for the league so midiocre players don't ask for 10mil+ per year?

2) I also changed Patric Ewing from hisotrical to normal so I could use him in my dynasty (team 40 to 50) I even changed his B-day by 20 years so he would be active for a while but for some reason he retires at the end of each season. Any clues? Here are the things I changed for him in Players.dbf with editor: age, draft year, salary, years of contract, destiny (2), Learning and work ethic. Did I miss anything?

Thanks Andrew :D

1. We used to be able to change that in the salary.ini file but that's not used anymore. I'm not sure of a way to change that offhand.

2. You could try changing his years pro as well. Other than that, you've got everything covered.

You're welcome. It's odd that the changes you've already made didn't get the job done but it couldn't hurt to reduce his years pro as well.

I did it and it worked like a charm. I know it's weird but I changed pro years to 4 and he doesn't retire any more - AWESOME :)

P.S. Do you know what does the meaning of the dunk vs lay up frequency means? THe higher the number the more likely the player will dunk, is that accurate?

Correct, the higher the slider the more likely a player is to perform a dunk as opposed to a layup, unless a player's DUNKPACK doesn't include any dunks in which case he'll always perform layups.
