Yao Ming out for season

How unbelievable, and so much for their 12 game win streak. I'm sure they're regretting right now trading away Bonzi Wells, who was pretty much their only other post player. Didn't quite understand that trade to begin with.

Stress Fracture in his left Foot: LINK

Didn't he have his season ended a couple years back also because of a fracture in one of his feet? Anyone remember if he did and if so which foot?

EDIT: According to the article, he missed 32 games last year because of a right leg fracture, 21 games in late 2006 because of some toe infection that required surgery, and 4 games back in April 2006 because of a broken foot (not sure which one though).

I think scola is a post player...

Im happy, the rockets were becoming a REAL trouble in the hard, hard southwest division. I hope they will loose some games. Anyway, I want to see them again in the playoffs, because last year... (N) :?

Wow, just wow. I've been really digging their 12 game win streak as I am a Rockets fan...

Just when the Rockets were on a huge roll, stuff like this happens. :(

Now I just hope T-Mac stays healthy for the rest of the season and proves that he can carry a team on his back.

Was that intentional? Because it gave me quite a good laugh.

Out for the post season too.....
Rockets are going to get crushed in the Western playoffs and Mcgrady has become a pretty streaky scorer.
At least this gives more hope for the Warriors.

The Denver Nuggets and Golden State Warriors have clinched playoff seeds today. With Houston out, we are down to 8 playoff teams in the West.

Bummer for Yao and the Rockets. I don't think McGrady is ever going to the second round.

What a pitty. A player like Yao Ming can't be replaced. The trade deadline's already passed...Mutombo can play D but Yao Ming's scoring can't be compensated.

Well that was fast. Looks like losing Diop wasn't a big loss.

Time for Kandiman?

Man really sucks for Yao... hopefully he'll be able to recover before the Olympics. He's being projected at being able to start working out again in like July or so, which gives him barely a month.

lol I didn't think of that, honestly.

I wasn't even thinking of injecting humor into my post as I was lamenting the Rockets loss of Yao.

On a side note, they managed to beat the Wizards today, which isn't much as the Wizards are all banged up.

With all apologies to Sammy Davis Jr, the Kandiman can't.

The Rockets made it 13 straight today without Yao but with the close race in the West and T-Mac's fragility, it's just about the last thing the Rockets need. It's crazy that in all likelihood, a Western team is going to win around 60% of their games and still miss the Playoffs.

hopefully he's back for Olympics for China....he'll play on one leg if he has to....

with this injury, I kind of hope Rockets don't make playoffs, I'd prefer to see Warriors, Hornets & Nuggets playing....

I think the Hornets will be fine. Yao's injury leaves the door open for the Nuggets to get back into the top eight without pushing out the Warriors though.

i hope to see the rockets reaching the playoffs in the eight spot, so the team winning the west (either spurs or lakers imo) would have an easy 1st round.

there are no easy beats in the West, 1 through 8 in the playoffs....this could be the year where lower put their imprint on the playoffs....

True, though in all fairness a Yao-less Rockets team seems less of a threat to pull off an upset than a healthy Warriors or Nuggets team.
