Is it possible to place the players.dbf file from my current saved roster, into my saved dynasty folder? Will it work without crashing the game?

It could very well crash the game, especially if you don't overwrite appearance.dbf as well, but if nothing else you'll lose season data that's stored in players.dbf.

Yeah, I thought so. So it's not worth to take the risk...

Not really. The end result isn't exactly what you want.
