There will be no official patch

Talk about NBA Live 08 here.

There will be no official patch

Postby nextnba on Tue Jan 29, 2008 1:44 pm

I've contacted EA and they have responded that they will not release any patch to resolve the sim engine or the substitution problems. They are only interested in resolving technical issues such as installation or crashes. I guess they are saying that they only guarantee that the game will install and run and not warranty game playing. So as long as the game install and runs, no matter how shitty the game playing is, we are out of luck!

SHOCK AND HORROR.

Who didn't see this happening? I'm getting ever so close to pirating current-gen EA Sports titles just so I can get their games and shove them in a blender.

Emails like that might be as close as we get to an official announcement but the fact they haven't released anything by this point means we can pretty much take it as read that the PC version of NBA Live 08 has been written off.

I returned my copy to EA, and didn't even wait for the refund. I contacted the CC company to tell them the company had misrepresented the product.

I don't see why they would make a patch and give it away for free when they can just add it and call it 09 and sell it in about half a year. But honestly, if 09 is patched up, I would be way happy with it. That's how low my expectation is but likely, it won't be patch and just as horrible. That's how bad Live is. I'm not hating EA. Madden is a great game. It's just too bad Live is crap!

At this point I'd want the PC version of NBA Live 09 to be more than a patched version of NBA Live 07, NBA Live 08 or perhaps even NBA Live 06. The Xbox 360/PS3 version isn't without its issues but if they'd ported it the PC this year I would have found it more than satisfactory. I'm hoping that will be the case with NBA Live 09.

Let's hope it's not a patched Wii version.

Let's just hope that 2KSports will be true to their words and release a version of the basketball game in PC to be called NBA 2K9. . .and hope it will be next gen. . .

Here in Manila, few are using consoles because they want the games in PC such as DOTA, CS and Online games. . .consoles are not trendy anymore here. . .PSP is the closest you can get to a console. . .hehe. . .

I have watched a kid play NBA Live 08 in a computer shop near my place and he's actually enjoying the game. . .ofcourse after I installed all the great patches here in NLSC. . .and all the other kids are watching him play it. . .they're amazed because the other PC don't have the same good patched NBA Live 08. Maybe someday, these kids will get their hands to a good NBA Live version. . .maybe. . .I hope. . .

You should record them enjoying the patched version of the game on video and send it to EA.

I wasn't aware 2K Sports had announced plans for a PC version of NBA 2K9?

I think he is referencing this

Here it doesn't say XBOX360, PS3, PS2 like the other lineups but instead says
NBA 2K9 Multiple Platforms
Opinions are my own.

that's of course bad news but honestly what were you expecting?
the last years they reduced the patches to a "only if nothing else is possible" level and this year it´s the same so i think it´s bad but nothing we can call news as sad as it is...

I think it would be good if the 2k series would be released for PC because it would give us as players at least the option to choose and i think it would have impact on the live series as well because maybe then EA would start wo worry about loosing a lot of money and maybe improve the game.
I mean EA did the same thing with the fifa series: they didn´t care about it and since pro evo is out I know many guy´s who turned away from the fifa series and now play pro evo.
hopefully EA may learn from that mistake?!

I see. It certainly seems unlikely given their previous market research into releasing 2K for the PC.

BTW, if ever 2K9 will be released. . .how are we(NLSC) gonna cope/put up with it? Are we gonna create N2KSC? Hehe. . .I would like to be a part of it as a founding member. . .hehe. . .

But ofcourse i won't be biased. . .I'll try my best to improve both games. . .Cool!

It depends on the interest, I guess. Even though I have my gripes with Live, there's certain aspects of the game (eg Freestyle vs Isomotion) that I prefer to 2K's approach so I'm still more interested in the NBA Live series and hope to see it improve. Depending on what could be done with a PC version of 2K, I suppose we'd have to consider some coverage.

I suggest we start the N2KSC now so that others won't have the chance to do it. Anyway, we're the most active NBA gaming site in the globe. But ofcourse we must not be biased. We can assign someone to handle N2KSC and be under the same administration such as NLSC. Maybe then we can extend our coverage with the NBA PC/console games. . .even if NBA 2008 will release a PC version. . .we can still assess everything. . .handling NBA Live 09, NBA 2K9 and NBA 2009.
What do you think Andrew/guys?

I don't see the need for two seperate sites. As I said, if the 2K series came to PC we would most likely evaluate the situation and consider the possibility of featuring 2K content.

Okay if 2K9 will be released in PC then are we gonna change the name of the site? Or we will stick to NLSC? Maybe we can it to NGSC (NBA Gaming Series Centre). . .hehe. . .well it's just a mere suggestion.

BTW, any news on the next official roster update?

THanks!

I don't have any plans to change the name of the site but I suppose that's something else that would be evaluated if the 2K series was to come to the PC and we started covering it.

I don't know about the official roster but new NLSC roster updates for 08 and 07 aren't far away.

It's funny and I was watching game trailers TV last night, and they are interviewing developers, and they are talking about fixing the game with a downloaded patch. But EA who pretty much runs the industry and makes the most money can't even do something simple as making a patch. . especially for the 360 version, which is supposed to be their best seller. . .EA is too funny

Don't you lose hope mate! I think EA will not give their PC NBA game monopoly that easy. They will try to put it in NextGen, or they're just waiting for this(NBA 2K9 in PC) scenario.

So let's wait and see until November.

But now enjoy the greatest NBA Live 08. . .ofcourse after all those great million patches by great NLSC patchers.

Protest

Postby Scrazynet on Tue Feb 05, 2008 6:46 am

If I ever had a chance to attend community day that people go when they release the game, I would organize a protest.

Too Bad people at 2kspors don´t release their game to PC plataform.

We are just stuck we a game that could be so good, but it´s not.
I´m sorry, but The old german dude, Tim Tshcsicssomething, who founded this site and was hired by ea simply didn´t change SH****. I´m not saying it´s his fault.....

If they ever hire Andrew we might see some change :)

That's kind of you to say but there's no guarantee I'd be able to change anything, even if I was to go in armed with all the best ideas from the community.
