rookie hair

Talk about NBA Live 08 here.

rookie hair

Postby Deck on Mon Jan 21, 2008 5:18 am

I have a question related to rookies in my dynasty:
Some of them have somehow white hair right in the centre of their head, as if they coloured it. In included black as well as white players, but not all rookies, maybe 30 or 40 % .

I patched this game a lot, so I'm not sure if it's due to this patching or part of the game. In fact their hair look pretty weird. I can make a screen of course later, if required.

And if it´can be fixed, somebody tell me how? :)

Some of the default rookie faces don't utilise alphas, resulting in a shine and the white patches you've seen. The easiest fix is to grab a face update made by one of the patchers in the community. :)

thanks Andrew :)

which one do you guys recommend?

and is it necessary to start a new dynasty that it works or will rookies be fixed by replacing the old file(s)?

There's a lot of guys who do great work with faces, I'd recommend checking out the Releases & Announcements section. You won't have to start a new Dynasty game.

.viv files need to go in the subfolders. Any "loose" face patches (ie seperate .fsh and .ebo files not compressed in a .viv file) can just be placed in the sgsm folder. The NLSC roster update contains rookie faces contributed by several talented patchmakers, even if you don't wish to use the rosters - they can't be applied to a Dynasty in progress at any rate - you can make use of the face updates with any roster.

been busy last days

I'm often switching between realistic roster and nlsc. How can I make use of them? I have to insert files from NLSC0708 into my savegamefolder?

thanks for your patience:)

Some files, such as teamgear.dbf and coaches.dbf can be copied to and from Dynasty saves without any problems but note that other files such as teams.dbf and players.dbf contain season data and as such shouldn't be overwritten by other files as problems will arise. If you want to use a certain roster in Dynasty Mode the safest option unfortunately is to begin a new Dynasty game with those rosters.

If you're referring to generated rookies then the NLSC update won't solve that problem, since some of the generic faces used by the generated rookies are missing the necessary alpha files.

So there is not just one or two files I can replace to correct this shine? :( The other stuff can just stay the same.

You could edit players.dbf and assign different PLAYERPKGs to generated rookies so that they utilised the generic faces which do have a correct alpha (and thus do not have the unnatural, shiny texture).

You can fix this if you have NBA Live 07 by extracting the files from the plyrface.viv file, or you can download the cyberface sweat pack and use those if you don't have 07.

-Once you have the plyrface.viv file, open it with bigGUI.
-Sort the cyberfaces by filename.
-Find the czbase_.fsh file and select it by left clicking on it.
-Scroll down the list till you get to plyr001.fsh. Hold CTRL on your keyboard and click on the file name.
-Let go of the CTRL key.
-Scroll down to the plyr125r.fsh file. Hold CTRL +SHIFT on you keyboard and click on it.
-Click the Edit button on the menu and choose Export. Browse your 08 sgsm directory, select it and click OK.
-All those files are now being extracted into your sgsm directory.
-Once it is done, play the game and you shouldn't have such oily rookies.
