hypothetical question.. kwame brown related.

assuming mitch cupcake threw kwame brown a 60 million dollar contract for 5 years, but with his skill set now (sucking dick big time), and the lakers managed to win one championship (no thanks to him but his teammates), would you say it was a good investment on cupcake's part?

especially when you gave up Caron Butler for him who you gave up Shaq for, I'd say no. There's no way that Krummy could ever contribute to winning a ring unless it's by picking bench splinters out of his ass. btw, you guys catch him in last night's game? missed dunks, dropped passes, turnovers galore.

He was just voted, in the Sports Illustrated Players Pole, the player who does the least with the most talent.

Not at all. The best thing you could say about it is that such a monumentally stupid move on Kupchak's part didn't completely ruin the team.

Well he does contribute, and he does play duncan well so if the lakers played the spurs and beat them and ended up winning the championship then maybe you could say it was worth it.

But that's a bit far fetched.

Kwame is on of the leagues best post defenders....however, he doesn't offer much more than that.

kwame brown is worth nothing more than the 5 plus mil varejao is owed. the kid is 25, all talks about potential and promise about his game should have been thrown out the window by now.

He's a good investment. Name any other player that can play post defense and has the ability to steal a cake from someone.

I heard the same talk on Vitaly Potapenko.

The ukrain train is a very good defensive player and that was it.

They reason they passed gasol, chandler, curry, okur... pretty good class that year!

But not kwame. He deserves his spot alongside with olowokandi and joe smith to the run for the worst #1 draft pick ever.

And coaches have practically nothing to do with the drafting of players. And all of the scouts were comparing Kwame to a stronger better low post version of Kevin Garnett.

As for Kwame being a good investment, at this time you have to say yes, unintentionally that was a brilliant signing by Mitch. It led to a massive expiring which allowed them to trade for Gasol. If Mitch was smart and hadn't given Kwame all that money, Gasol would not be a Laker.

Jordan didn't trust a foreigner (Gasol), he didn't need Richardson/Battier when he'd have himself, and Elton Brand was a "loser" on his old team.

Plus, like always, nobody apparently knows what to look for in a basketball player, so they make stupid decisions.

That could be the most flattering thing ever said about Kwame Brown's career. After all, Kwame, Javaris Crittenton and Aaron McKie have helped the Lakers immensely this season.

Its really a funny and sad truth isn't it. Its funny how teams are blasted for signing huge deals to players who don't deserve them, then 4 years later when its an expiring its a huge asset. In this day and age teams may even start signing guys for one year at a way above market price with the idea of moving him for a team looking to unload a good player for cap space at the deadline.
