Stuff about the game

Sun Oct 12, 2003 3:56 am

ok one is remember how last year the most improved award was like a joke, cause all the people that would get the award would be averaging like 5 ppg and stuff like that, seems it still has that problem:
Image

also top 12 payers in the game(rating wise)

Kobe Bryant: 97
Kevin Garnett: 97
Tracy McGrady: 92
Shaquille O'Neal: 92
Tim Duncan: 91
Jason Kidd: 89
Paul Pierce: 87
Vince Carter: 86
Steve Francis: 86
Allen Iverson: 86
Chris Webber: 86
Jermaine O'Neal: 85

lol that Most Improved Player award is whack. He must of averaged 0.2 points or something on his last season

Thanks for listing the top players in the game. I'm surprised at how EA determined these ratings, though. There's such a large gap between Kobe/KG and McGrady/Shaq. Also, Tim Duncan should be rated a little higher, IMO. I'm just hoping that the new rating scale doesn't give an unfair advantage of a 90's player against a 60's player.

lol ya but I think if he would of got the minutes he would of been good, lol, 1.1 PPG in 2.6 MPG, say give him 30 minutes of play he could avereage around 12 PPG ;) but still that award is useless.

Bull Crap

Why can't they change that? 1.2 ppg? 2.6 MPG? That's fine if it was three minute quarters or something, but other than that, there's no way someone like that should be getting most improved player. Looks as if EA spent more time adding new features instead fixing the ones that they already had in previous versions of NBA Live.

The first thing I'm doing (after an exhibition game) is changing Kobe and Garnett's ratings. Iverson's ratings probably should be higher, but it's far better than last year.

I wonder what the all-time players ratings are (Jordan, Wilt, Bird, Magic)

actually carter and francis have the same rating as AI(86) and pierce just has an 87, so they are all the same pretty much

Maybe Iverson would have higher ratings if he was more of a dunker like Pierce, Carter, and Francis :)

my boy reece gaines- 48 the ratings are way diff this year instead of 50-100 there 0-100 and pretty much a 70 is still a real good player

Sun Oct 12, 2003 10:45 am

Perhaps the player played a 2-minute quarter's season? If that's the case he did well.

Mon Oct 13, 2003 2:54 am

Kobe is 97? Does that mean he is only 2 away from legend Jordan? WTF????

Mon Oct 13, 2003 3:50 am

Kobe is pretty much in his prime and i guess they think he's as good as Jordan in his prime now

Mon Oct 13, 2003 7:06 am

how come everyone is saying teh rating are from 0-99, maybe the overall rating can go above 99, like I remember in live 2001, in u played dynasty and had good development rate your could get overall's above 100, like i had shaq at overall 107, so maybe it is like that again this year.... cause there shouldn't be a limit to how good u get, cause you can always get better

Mon Oct 13, 2003 5:59 pm

my custom created dude is gonna be like a seven :D
thanks for the stats update

I for one dont really like the ratings, it makes the game more star oriented, plus kobe has FG 76, KG has FG 66 and t-mac is only 71? yet shaq is 99 fg and pierce is 85, and i dont think hes a better shooter than kobe and tmac, they even have j. kidd at 72, which is higher than t-mac. i guess the ratings are based more on what position guys play. big men will have good inside scoring and not such a good FG rating.

Tue Oct 14, 2003 9:45 am

kobe4real, in live 01 many of us used the tweaked rosters and some players could go over 100, i dont remember them doing that before i d/loaded the tweaked roster

is that what you are thinking of, or am i wrong and they could always go over 100?

Tue Oct 14, 2003 9:55 am

I don't think even the most hardcore Kobe fans think he's the best player in the game.

Where did you see that?

Tue Oct 14, 2003 10:43 am

i got the ratings from the game, those were just a few superstars that stood out, accross the board guys have low ratings compared to last year.
although shaq is 99 fg and inside, i thought that was amazing.

I am not sure... I thought they could always go over 100 but I am not sure..... But i remember you could only get over 100 from improving in franchise, like u couldn't edit someone to be over 100, like if u did everything 99, you would have a overall of 99.

I don't think even the most hardcore Kobe fans think he's the best player in the game.

I think he is the best player in the NBA, so I would think he should be the best player in the game too.
