Your worst dynasty moments

What were your worst dynasty moments?

I started my Knicks-dynasty back in 2004 LOL, played a game every now and then...paused for 1.5 years and so on...currently, I'm in my fifth season (28 games per season). When it is over I will upload my homepage with detailed stats, pics and videos...of all players...averages, totals and more.

This was my worst moment...and still is, it happened yesterday. My team used to work well with Kurt Thomas, Sprewell and Houston. Over the years their ratings have gradually decreased and in my fifth season Sprewell and Houston were just too slow. Scoring was damn exhausting. During the fourth season I started to rebuild my team, trading for a young, talented point guard and a young center (both generated rookies).

I wanted to avoid losing Sprewell and Houston due to retirement so I decided to trade them for a younger star. Finally, I traded Sprewell, Houston and Doleac to Phoenix for Shawn Marion and two really weak rookies.

Shawn Marion had five great games...then I lost him due to injury. I use custom injuries...I roll 12-sided die. 12 = he is injured. In this case I reroll the die again to see if he is injured for one or more games. More games? -> slight or severe injury. Severe injury -> how many games. I had really bad luck in all four die rolls and got the worst scenario. He was out for the season!

Now I still have to play 15 season games...without Sprewell, without Houston, without Marion. I got really angry!
I have some other good players on the injury list and have to play my games with only few good players but a handful of really weak rookies and bench warmers that hardly ever play under normal conditions.

That was my worst moment...when I rebuilt my team, gave away good players for one fresh, young and talented star (Marion)...and lost him due to injury for the rest of the season. :(

My roster:

C Isaac Ballard (generated rookie...slow but powerful, inside force)
PF Kurt Thomas
SF Vladimir Radmanovic
SG Damon Jones
PG Brian Dixon (generated rookie, fast, 3pt shooter)

C Chris Warner (really weak rookie...useless)
PF Antonis Fotsis
SF Lee Nailon
SG Shandon Anderson
PG Leon Rose (weak player in his 2nd yr)
SG Ike Fontaine
PG G. Armstrong (really crappy youngster)

Injured list:

IR Michael Olowokandi (I miss him!)
IR Dan Dickau (damn)
IR Shawn Marion ( :( )

2004 and 5 seasons!? :shock: holy shiznit - this is the most impressive dynasty so far! that's some serious dedication you put in and very admirable

although not sure how admirable to get rid of your 'franchise' players Spree and Houston ;) very GM and business-like though, so a realistic move to ship the old dogs out for youngblood; but didn't you for the slightest moment feel a sense of loyalty to Spree and Alan and want to see their jerseys hanging in the 'retired' knicks rafters? (was 'retiring players jerseys' even an available feature in '04? maybe not; i can't remember)

Marion was a great pick up though. Not sure I quite understand the 'custom-injury' thing and the dice but it's too damn bad about the season-ending injury

my dynasty is in it's infancy so i haven't had any real 'worst' moments; aside from losing T-MAC for a few weeks to injury the most horrible thing was when my laptop crapped out on me and i couldn't play for a good month heheh

anyway, hope you find time to recap and maybe even continue with regular online updates; it'd definitely be an interesting dynasty to read about (Y)

This is a 2k8 association, not NBA Live, but sue me.

I started an association with the Cavaliers. I built an awesome team around him, then in the third year (or whenever it is that his current contract expires), he wouldn't resign. He refused the offer and gave the 'refuse to work with your organization' response.

I love the team now (Martell Webster and Aaron Afflalo are beasts along with Boobie and some generated players), but Lebron leaving (he signed with the Kings) really stung.

This sucks, haha.

It's pretty interesting how players developped over the years. Yao Ming in NBA Live is only a backup center, Dirk Nowitzki also sits on the bench and his ratings went down.

@ Clutch Of course I wanted to keep Houston and Sprewell but they just were'nt that good anymore. Even Houston's three-point-shooting dropped to average and both were just slow. And remember that they are old. If I kept them they might have retired at the end of the season and I would have gotten NOTHING for them. Just two free roster spaces. So I had to trade them and get the best out of them. What I did was keep Kurt Thomas. Now he is not that good anymore as well but speed doesn't matter much for power forwards. And I have others for scoring.

Ah, bad luck again. Kurt Thomas is injured...misses four games. :( Active roster stands at 10.

Here is my custom injury system:

"Injuries:

I use my own injuries, rolling a die (12 sides) for each player before a game. A 12 means that he is injured. The injuries are as below:

a) 1-11: no injury;
b) 12: injured;

In case of an injury (again a die is rolled):
b1) 1-6: player injured for one game;
b2) 7-12: player injured for more games;

In case of b2 (again a die is rolled):
b2a) 1-6: slight injury;
b2b) 7-12: severe injury;

Slight injury (again a die is rolled):
Player injured for ... games: 1-4=2; 5-8=3; 9-12=4;

Severe injury (again a die is rolled):
Player injured for ... games: 1=5; 2=6; 3=7; .... --> 4 is added to the result of the die;
up to 11=15; 12=16;

Injured players must not be traded or released. When a player comes back to the active roster after an injury, he automatically is fit for the next game, without having to roll the die.

As players were injured very often, I slightly changed the rules after game 13: every new injury can be called off. A die is rolled, 1 and 2 mean that the player is not injured and can remain on the active roster."

Props for making up your own rules.

Never really had a bad dynasty moment. Worst was NBA Live 05 when I was Lakers and got Elton Brand with Kobe on the same team. I wanted a finals rematch (it was a regular season game) but Kobe couldnt play because he hurt his hand. :(

That dice thing is wild man but cool nonetheless 8-)

hope you continue with some online updates from time-to-time; curious to see if Marion could carry a team without Nash

There is no Marion anymore. He played 5 games and now misses the remainder of the season. It's my last season, too. But in the 5 games he played well. Was cool to have an atheletic player on the team who could dunk alleyoops...the rest of my players can't.

I'm not sure if this really qualifies as a worst Dynasty moment because it certainly made things interesting when it was all said and done, but in my NBA Live 06 Bulls Dynasty I lost Ben Gordon for 20 games with a broken hand which made things difficult though I enjoyed the challenge. It's definitely the most significant injury I've ever had occur during a Dynasty game so in that respect it's probably my worst moment, although it certainly added to the experience and I did win the championship that year (playing all 82 games, 12 minute quarters) so it wasn't all bad.

Worst Dynasty moment..... everytime I attempt to start one with Live 08 then look at the simulated boxscores and start screaming...

But I suppose the worst is like what Leander said, building a team around a young talented star then having him get injured, did that with the Heat and D-Wade once and traded Shaq etc to get expirings and picks then lost D-Wade for a large portion of the season.

I had a Sonics dynasty last year, playing 2 min quarter games. It was 2013 or 2014 year, don't remember now very well, and Sonics were in the NBA final playing against Raptors and I was winning that series 3:0 and at the end I managed to lose it 3:4. Raptors became the champions and Ray Allen retired from the league without the ring, it was sad... but next year I finnaly won, haha

Worst Dynasty was back in NBA Live 2005,In the middle of the season my best 2 players J.Kidd and R. Jefferson were injured for 2 or 3 months(cant remember the true number) so I was loosing so badly,but than I signed with free agent R.Pack (At the end of the season he was awarded Most Inproved Player Of The Year),and he with R.Mercer,R.Buford and rookie N.Kristic become the main players of Nets.

That was hell a dynasty

er forget the bargs injury i got a new one

just then on the second season of my dynasty mode, in game 7 of the finals im down by 2 points, i got the last possession of the match after i fouled ben wallace and he made 1 of 2 free throws, i give the ball to mcgrady with 13 seconds left, instead of hitting the shoot button i accidentally hit the lay up button and surprise surprise the ball misses and i lost the final to chicago :evil: theres always a chance that mac was going to miss the shot but now we never know :lol:

My worst experience was in NBA Live 06, when I was using a Charlotte Bobcats team. At one point, 4 Starters got Injured, 3 are out for more than 8 weeks, including one out for 11 weeks and the one that wasn't injured for more than 8 weeks was out for 2 weeks.

Initially 2 of them got injured on the same game (C and my SG). But the next game my favorite SF (simulated player) got injured for 11 weeks. My star PG was later injured the next week and was out for 8 weeks. This wouldn't have been too bad if only it wasn't Mid March. *Sigh* And the worst part of that, because of these injuries, some of the reserves got minor injuries while playing games without my stars.:(

Good thing my team was so deep. Also, I can proudly say that I didn't use the 100M Cap cheat on the DBF and I was able to make the team survive till they reached the finals and all the starters were able to comeback to play.

Bad news was when I got the guys back in the Finals though, I lost 3-4 in the series.:( Apparently some trades I made made opposing teams strong, like the Golden State Warriors who were my Finals Opponents for the next 16 years. Talk about Rivalries.
