30,423 according to link removed have downloaded NBA Live for PC thats $1,216,695.75 in lost dollars in less then a week thats huge. No wonder develpers dont give a #$@$ about PC this is a rising trend Pirating is up 60% accoring to a Gamespot article all downloads combined just for the past week has cost the industry over 1.1 billion dollars if you look at the stats of all combined and multiply by 39.99 which is average price for a PC game and thats just for last week I am sure the total overall is over 100 Billion this year alone in bootlegged or downloaded Progs. I see people in foriegn countries complain they dont have it shipped there thats is because there is 3 bums on the street selling people bootleg DVD's for $5 or less and most countries dont even a have Anti-Copying laws

Give the game away for free. Make money on in-game ads, OEM deals and monthly charges for online use.

You're assuming those people would buy Live in the first place. It can't be a "lost dollar" if no one was going to buy it in the first place.

Pirates are not the reason the Live series sucks. Make a good game and release a demo if you want more people to buy the game. Don't make crap and then whine because "pirates" didn't buy your game claiming you can't make it good until all "pirates" are gone.

Totally agree, if you want me to buy your game make it good otherwise i simply wont buy it, and i wont even bother to download it, i have not either bought live 08 or downloaded it simply because it SUCKS, well from what i've heard anyway.

If it was any good i would buy it but its not so no money for you EA...

I'm sorry but i think its simply pathetic to release a game with the amount of bugs that live 07/08 have these days and any game companies that do i think should burn in hell.

Now some morons may argue that the reason the game has bugs is because of piracy and they cant afford to do bug testing anymore, BS EA have so much money its not funny, the reason they don't do bug testing is because that would cut into there profit margin...

Command & Conquer 3 was a great game, i played it on release not 1 bug for me, yet its a known fact that games like that have a higher percentage of piracy then sports games... And of course it was made by EA, wow a miracle a almost bug free game released by EA.

Whats my point you ask? EA Sports have the ability to release bug free games with next gen graphics, they just don't want to put the money into it, even though they know that they will get a lot more sales then they do know.

EA can go f*ck them selfs imho

What these game companies should do is make pirate sites that are fake. You know like on cops where they have a sting operation and pretend they are hookers. When people download it bam they get the IP and bust them. That would make people think twice about downloading pirated software.

It's not the downloading they can get people on, it's uploading.

And they do basically that, among other things. Likely violating a ton of laws on their own.

well if EA wanted to fight piracy and make more dollars they do like KONAMI with PES...
(lets hope they dont read this post ....and read wish lists and bug threads...)
but that would mean take out direct ip ...and that would suck
instead this year they took out EASO ...and the result is that the pirate and the owner of legit copy have no difference of service...

having your material pirated shouldnt affect content...u still gotta respect the people who buy it...not testing your product fully is lack of respect...lying in commercials saying u fixed this and that when it really isnt true is disrecpectful also to their loyal customer who once again trusted them with their cash...i bought live 07 psp but found only 1 improvement in a downloaded 08 u actually get a block sometimes where in 07 u can only dream of it...besides that, its the same game...back in days updates were free!!!! for example NHL 07 on psp was fine...so they didnt release 08 for it...think about that..

btw it seems PES on PC has made FIFA get better over the years...thats why we need 2K9 on pc

Piracy and the quality of the game for pc is in no way connected.

Live 08, 2K8 on XBox, PS3 have been released in the warez networks and the download factor isn't different in anyway

And this would pay the per-box-fee for all the licencees how?. Keep in mind Live is not 100% an EA property, the variuos NBA licences(league officers, team owners, players union, pension players union, arena owners), network licences(espn, marv albert, steve kerr), and product licences(nike, reebok, jordan sportsware, addidas)all take a percentage of the actual price.

Pirates are not the reason the Live series sucks. Make a good game and release a demo if you want more people to buy the game. Don't make crap and then whine because "pirates" didn't buy your game claiming you can't make it good until all "pirates" are gone.

And you can personaly gaurentee that 2K would not be having such problems were they to release on PC?. At some point you have to realise that some portion, and likely a large portion, of the file sharing comunity just want things they are too flippin' cheap to pay for.

You're assuming those people would buy Live in the first place. It can't be a "lost dollar" if no one was going to buy it in the first place.

Here's a novel idea; if you don't want something, dont get it. I mean realy don't get it. Don't buy it, don't steal it, don't rent it, don't have a freind lend it to you, just don't fucking aquire it in any way.

For a pointless analogy that I assume will be beyond you; I posess absolutely no Justin Timberlake music, none, not legaly or illegaly. I don't care for his work, yet don't feel that my dislike entitles me to aquire that work for free. D'ya get that, the fact that I don't care for something overrides my sense of entitlement to posess everything ever made. Have you ever been there?, found something you were so disinterested in that even your overdeveloped sense of entitlement couldn't drive you to aquire it in some way?. Learn to want something or not, just get over this shit that everybody owes you everything when they don't.

Which is all irrelevant to the quality of the game.

Nice of you to be a pompus asshole.

I personally do not get things I don't want. (Well, I don't want gasoline, and never wanted textbooks, special forms of clothing, etc.) I do not have need for things I do not want.

But I am sure there are lots of people who want a PC basketball game, but after Live 07 (or 06) they didn't want to waste their money on another piece of trash without playing it first.

You may want some utopian world where everyone can afford to throw money away on video games, they're available everywhere, and all game companies put out great games out of their goodwill, but that isn't this one. Somehow ending "piracy" (which has existed forever) will not make the Live series any better. I have no idea why anyone would think "pirates" are why the Live series sucks.

But I guess the entire point of my post was beyond you.

First, I have been buying NBA Live series since NBA Live 97. However, I think NBA Live 08 is robbing my money. I remember that I bought NBA Live 97 coz I wanted to support EA Sports to make NBA game on PC. If I didnt support her, she wont make me NBA Live 98.

I thought in that way, so I bought the game.

Since then, every year I was so excited to wait and buy the game once it was available.

However, till NBA Live 08, it disappoints me and it hurts.

EA Sports cheated us. They had never released any Live 08 PC screenshots before the release of the game. Some website like gamespot even released the next-gen graphics some months ago.... I was shocked when i knew that NBA Live 08 was like a reworked title of Live 07 only.

By the way, I don't think every one of the ppl download the pirate copy have money/are interested to buy the game. IF EASports wants us to buy the game, she should make a better game. i wont waste my $$ in a rushy title.

i agree that ea cheated its custumers and not only pc since i read that even for the next gen they didnt fix some of those 07 "dunk through backboard" bugs and ice skating on court and i must add that if EA is a SHe :)...she is a nasty bitch:) but im starting to like 08 ...so this will be my last ea bashing for this year hopin that the 2010 version will be perfect:)

Yes.

And, anyway, if the game is a superb game, people prefer to buy the game instead download it from p2p..(to play online and to collect the game).

There are many more downloads of Live 08 pc than PES, because pro evolution is the best game of soccer around us.
