i wasn't talking about hip-hop......i don't give a fuck about hip-hop.......

get it....this is not a fact...

if someone has a wack flow and wack lyrics he is not a quality rapper...and flow and lyrics are not things of taste...

if it would have been a fact then DMX wouldn't be a fucken millioner...

that's your OPINION get it!

Sun Nov 24, 2002 11:14 am

i bet u don't even know what flow means...u can't argue about a mc's flow...

Sun Nov 24, 2002 11:19 pm

sigh...Smooth, Pabel can have his opinion, and you can have yours. You're both right. However there are rules in this forum that basically say don't insult others, which you're doing, in a very ignorant and foolish way by basically saying Pabel can't like DMX because you say he sucks.

You still didn't address Pavel's question about how DMX has sold so many albums if he sucks as much as you say.

bloody hell....

it's not about opinions
an mcs flow is not a matter of opinions...
like the shooting of a bballer...

dmx's flow is wack = shawn bradley is not a good 3pt shooter

finally got it now?

Mon Nov 25, 2002 5:24 am

Smooth i'll have to agree and ask you to please tone it down.Where it comes to things like music...people have tastes in music..and with tastes come opinion. You can accept that or give your own side on the issue..but do it without constant instigation and insults.Same goes for the rest in here

An MCs "flow" is a matter of opinion. The three point shooting ability of a player is not.

The reason? There's nothing to measure an MCs "flow", except, your opinion. There are stats to measure the ability of a three point shooter.

wrong.

end of discussion for me

I gotta agree with Smooth here. A rapper's flow is not based on different people's opinions, it's based on what their flow is like compared to other rappers. DMX has no flow compared to guys like Eminem, Nas or Rakim. I like how you compared flow to a bballers shot. It's a skill. Some rappers have flow and some don't. Some players can shoot others can't. But, flow isn't the only thing you need to be a good rapper so DMX still has his talents.

I gotta agree with Smooth here. A rapper's flow is not based on different people's opinions, it's based on what their flow is like compared to other rappers.

Sorry Clinton and Smooth, but I have to agree with "¤" here on principle alone. A rappers flow is precisely based on people's opinion, but its also based on how they compare to other rappers as well. For instance, I could dislike Shady's "flow" [my opinon in this case, but not my real view on Slim], but admit that compared to others he's superior. So taste wise, I may not like his flow, but I could still note that its better than many other rappers. But to me, "flow" is more multifaceted than just lyrics, its about timing, metaphors, intensity, pitch, mass appeal, stage presence, etc. And there's no magical equation to compute "flow", which is preciesely why its a matter of opinion. I agree that in my book, Biggie is #1 with no equal, with Rakim #2, followed by guys like NAS, Shady, DMX, Pac, KRS-One [the latter 5 in no particular order]. To me Big had it all, and lyrically he brought a "flow" that helped the careers of everyone from Jay-Z to Nas to Lil' Kim to Mase to the Lox, and the list goes on and on. So to me Big was the pinnacle. But on the freestyle tip I rank Canibus and Shady right up there with him. So although I still think Biggie was the best "overall", there are some areas where the "flow" of others aren't that far off of the Greatest. But again, that's a matter of taste or opinion, which was ¤'s point, I assume.

Best,

P

Yes, P, that was exactly my point. I won't respond to the rest of your post though because the majority of rap isn't my styzzle.

Still, if I went and said something like I think Everlast is the best rapper, has the best flow, lyrics, music, etc. I wouldn't be any more wrong than you, Smooth, Pabel or Clinton.

That's for a little summing up of my point.

Now everyone back to the peaceful rap talk without the insults!

P.S. I know you're just "playin" P. You really think Biz Mark E is the greatest of all time don't you? Of course you do, you're learned. :D

Eminem has been doing beats since the D12 album; he did D12, The Eminem Show, and 8 Mile. Dre didn't.

As for his talent, as a poet and English major I can tell you that Eminem has serious talent when it comes to rhyming. His use of alliteration, hyperbole, assonance, and his sense of rhythm is perfect.

Run Rabbit Run is Eminem's best song by far. He showcases his rap skill perfectly by rapping for nearly five minutes (there's no pause, Clinton) with no hook. Who else does that? Nas and Rakim are the only two that I can think of...

Tue Dec 03, 2002 5:55 pm

I know there is no pause or hook. That's what makes it my favourite song. He shows all his talents- alliteration, hyperbole, assonance and rhythm etc, all the stuff you are talking about. That song sums up Eminem as a rapper. I like what I heard from him in an interview the other day. He said that this CD (8 Mile Soundtrack) is signs of what is to come from Shady Records.
