NBL Thread

The 07/08 NBL season tips off tomorrow with three games, one of which (Bullets vs Blaze) will be shown on Fox Sports at 7:30 PM. It doesn't look like this year's coverage is going to be as extensive as last year which doesn't leave me feeling too hopeful about the NBA coverage, but that's another story.

Is anyone here planning on watching it/the NBL in general this season? I reckon I'll give it another go this year but my interest usually subsides after the NBA season starts.

Yeah I will watch any basketball that SkyTV decides to air, so NBL will get quite a bit of time on my TV. Im looking forward to seeing if all the hype the NZ media is giving the hopes of the Breakers this seson is actually deserving. We have made some good signings so it could be good.

I've actually decided to 'invest' myself a bit more into NBL for the 1st time ever....I signed up for an NBL Dream Team thing, so I'm keen to do well in it so I'll keep tabs on more games....I'll probably support the 3 B's (Bullets - Bradshaw & Boucher; Blaze - Pero Cameron & Casey Frank; & the Breakers - Penney & Phil Jones)....

All else aside, it's hard for me to invest that heavily without a home team. I suppose as a fan of the sport I should be able to watch any game and enjoy a well played contest no matter what the outcome, but I'd much rather have a particular team or player to follow and be enthusiastic about.

NBL has started off with a new look with revamped website and new naming rights sponsor Hummer. The site will even have its own online store which is a i suppose a step in the right direction. I will be following my Brisbane Bullets the defending champions and welcome the Gold Coast Blaze a fellow QLD team.

If I had Cable I would be able to give you a detailed report... ben is in the same boat... plus it was at the GC... Drew (X), did you catch the game?

All I know is that Ebi scored 28 and 11 and I shoudla got him for my damn fantasy team except I took up CJ... and I dont even like CJ :( Umm and Sam Mack was good as usual... but I saw the new GC arena and it looks dope. (Y)

I saw only a tiny bit of the game....Tall Blacks' Casey Frank or whatever his name is did a nasty dunk for the Blaze....don't worry about Fantasy team, I made a few bad picks as well :(

I watched the whole game and I have to say it was pretty entertaining. The Blaze looked quite impressive in the first half, I really though they were going to pull off the upset (especially the way Juaquin Hawkins was knocking down shots) but the Bullets ran all over them for most of the second half. Jason Crowe made things interesting in the final couple of minutes though.

So far I've only caught the one game; so much for my resolution. I was thinking of jumping on the Blaze's bandwagon sinze they're new and there's a couple of former Newcastle players there but it's just not the same as having a home team to cheer for.

I know the feeling....that's why I don't have a favourite NBA team, which makes it hard to follow at times....I've been watching a bit of A League lately....helps to have a home team in Roar....but it is more the A League Fantasy Dream Team I'm in that has me cheering for players on other teams :P

For me it's different with the NBA, probably because I became a huge Bulls fan because of Michael Jordan and remain so to this day.

Cairns is doing fairly well. And I am slowly finding out that this dude I played ball with is right. Early last year he told me Jawii (These two both from Cairns) would be big. And I guess it's starting to come true.

So they're compacting each game into an hour? Well, it could be a hell of a lot worse. Its a baby step in the right direction. And i'm not looking it in the mouth.
