Opinion on Set Sail The Prairie? I find it to be quite disappointing and it seems somehow more pretentious than Buy Our Intention; We'll Buy You a Unicorn. It still has some good tracks like "Campfire", "Empire" and "Silk Road" but does not seem as solid all the way through as BOIWBYAU.

I haven't even heard anything from them since their self-titled release

Well, there's technically only one new album since then. Unless you count Team Sleep like some people. I think I liked Saturday Night Wrist better than Deftones, I'd have to relisten. But yeah, White Pony despite Maynard.

If you like hip hop (not the ringtones/songs that are played on the radio) Method Man's new-ish solo album 4:21 the Day After is outstanding. Meth has always been my favorite Clan member, but he's never put out a good solo record. Well, it finally happened.

I don't think so. Well it was better than the previous ones, sorta, but not really good. But I guess after that garbage album Tical 0-The Prequel it's quite easy to appreciate 4:21 because at least it's nowhere near being utter crap.

I heard about this one too, but now it's The Dear Hunter. I saw them a few days ago, great guys and amazingly creative musicians.

I'd partly agree, I don't know if it's more pretentious (though the concept of "one song for each month" could understandably provoke that reaction). To me it lacks just a few things from the previous album like you mentioned, but maybe even more from their debut unsigned record "Did You Know People Can Fly?". I'm sure they certainly improve as musicians but I see your point benji.
I can't really be objective about this band, these guys are good friends of mine and I saw them live many many times...I would probably buy their stuff if they decided to play reggae or polka...

I like Sang Real, but I do wish they would go back to the El Cielo kind of state of mind, which is for me the greatest record ever written. I liked Catch Without Arms a lot, but it just didn't get any close to their previous effort.

Well, I've always thought their messages are kinda pretentious, and really what bands aren't. I just meant that in this case, it seems they got caught up in the seasons and months concept and the music suffered because of it.

I see your point, but trust me, when you get to know them, they're the nicest, most down-to-earth guys ever, there's not really an ounce of pretention with this band, they just strive to become better musicans and songwriters.

Haste the Day - Pressure the Hinges

The best Haste The Day would be their very first EP in my opinion, "That They May Know". Reminiscent of Zao but with a nice instrumental touch. Then they got caught up in the metalcore wave...I haven't heard the lastest, they don't even have the same vocalist anymore, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't dig at all...

Ryan Adams & The Cardinals - Cold Roses



This is my favourite album at the moment. It is a 2 disk journey through the song writing prowess of Ryan Adams, which tells stories anybody can relate too. It has a mellow rock vibe with country and blues overtones. One of those albums that the louder you play it the more amazing it sounds. Stand-out songs are Cold Roses, Sweet Illusions, Magnolia Mountain & Meadowlake Street.

Oasis - Definitely Maybe



The album that bought the band to the front of the BritPop movement. This album defines what British music in the 90's was all about. Every song is a classic. Songs like Live Forever, Cigarettes & Alcohol, Slide Away and Rock n Roll Star are some of the best rock songs ever written. This album was the most important album to come out of Britain in the last 20 years, and is on equal footing with anything produced by the Beatles or Rolling Stones. Still is the highest selling British début album of all time.

Stone Roses - Stone Roses



What do you get when you mix the best British music influences, the vibe of the Manchester sound and a shitload of ecstasy??? This album changed the direction of British music in the late 80's/early 90's. It features so classic tracks that have some amazing guitar solos, bass rifts and drum parts. Best album of the Madchester period bar none.

There are some really, really solid tracks on that CD. I think it blows all of his other solo stuff out of the water, and deserves recognition. I actually like it more then the Pretty Toney Album.

I agree with that. It really does blow all his other solo-albums out of the water but I think blowing something out of the water that's at best mediocre doesn't deserve too much recognition. I don't wanna say that this album is bad, I actually like it but I wouldn't call it great.

I'm a big fan of Meth, I probably would have liked the CD more then I should even if it wasn't that great, because I REALLY wanted it to be great.

I just got into it so I'd be thankful if you'd suggest me some albums like the two I mentioned above (even though I doubt there's anything that even comes close to those.)

Yeah I have. I don't have it unfortunately, but I've heard it plenty. Y.O.U. is one of my all time favorite songs.

Steely Dan - The Royal Scam

One of my top five favorite rock records - Kid Charlemagne is one of the most amazing songs ever, Haitian Divorce is wonderful, and everything else is typical Fagen/Becker goodness.

I think anyone who listens to any kind of music at all would like MF Dooms Metal Fingers cds called Special Herbs. He's put out like 9 or 10 of them, they are all completely instrumental, and brilliant.

If you like Oasis' first 2 albums you'll love The Masterplan which is a collection of B-Sides from that era. Some of their best works never actually made the albums.

Try and get your hands on a movie called 'Live Forever'. It's a 2003 documentary on Britpop which will show you all the key bands of the period.

Ty-Land, I fucking love you. I heard about Oasis before but I just never really bothered listening to them. Biggest mistake I made in my life. Their stuff is pretty sweet. Not my favourite, but its damn good to listen to.

Econoline Crush - The Devil You Know (a 1997 album)



I don't know if you guys have heard of them before, but they were pretty famous in Canada during the post-grunge 90s days. They're not really post-grunge, but more of a radio-friendly industrial band (well they became much, much more pop-rock with Brand New History, their most recent album which probably led to their current "hiatus"). Because of this, I really think their music is the kind that sort of serves as a "gateway band" to more "pure" industrial bands like Nine Inch Nails, etc. Synthesizers, distorted guitars and a bunch of other effects are thrown around a lot, and even if it is a bit mainstream, it still sounds good, in my opinion. Their sound is soft enough to have a certain catchiness to it, but they also have that industrial edge that makes it unique from other music.

The downside I think to this album is that a lot of the songs sound the same and there are a ton of forgettable tracks to it, however songs like Devil You Know and Home are memorable for their catchy choruses.

If I were to rate the album, I'd give it a 7/10. A solid reccomendation, but don't expect too much from the album.

Woah, Econoline Crush. Remember when they used to be on MuchMusic all the time, asdf? I was totally into those guys back then. I totally forgot they existed.

Yeah, I remember Much Music actually played pretty good music before... Then they just became more and more commericialized as their "newer" and more "hip" VJs replaced the older ones.

I wasn't a huge music fan back then, so I kind of ignored a lot of stuff like Econoline Crush... Glad I picked up on them again.
