eBay

Postby J@3 on Mon Sep 17, 2007 5:56 am

So I've been mildly addicted to eBay lately, I bought a computer, a motherboard (does anyone want one? I really didn't need it lol) and I'm in the process of buying some clothes, shoes etc. What I have noticed browsing through the various stores, is the way people react to getting negative feedback. They go absolutely apeshit lol. Does anyone sell here? If so, do you go spastic at people if they leave negative feedback? Any eBay horror stories etc?

I once bought a 4gb sony memory card for 50 euros. I don't care if it's original or not, it works and it was cheap.
But that was the only one I bought something on eBay. When I see another nice offer, I might get it, but I'm not the guy who looks regularly on eBay to see what's new.

I haven't sold anything but I've been thinking about trying to get rid of a few things. As a buyer I've been pretty fortunate so far, though you always hear horror stories about people who have been screwed out of thousands of dollars. I think the most I've ever spent on one purchase is around $110 though.

The computer I purchased arrived today and looks completely different to the picture on the listing lol... sigh. Guess I'll boot it up and make sure the specs are the same.

I never buy computer parts off ebay, i use Newegg instead. Its awesome for phones though. Ive bought my last 3 phones off ebay, as long as its a registered power seller I dont mind taking the risk. Most of them are so afraid of negative feedback they'll bend over backwards to make sure youre happy.

I'm looking to buy a Tottenham Hotspur or D.C. United Shirt, as well as a NY Giants and Arizona Cardinals Kurt Warner Jersey to round out my collection.

I've bought two pairs of shoes and some militaria, and I've sold several things.

My advice would be to not buy small collectibles, or any for that matter, you just don't know how real, damaged, etc. that they are. Other things though, like a neat shirt or a DVD or book or something all make sense to me.

I've sold 5 or 6 things and made 15-20 purches on ebay and I can't say that I've ever had a problem. My only advice is to be careful if you are buying designer clothes and whatnot. There are a ton of powersellers who advertise 100% authentic shirts/sweaters/jeans and they are actually 100% unauthentic. I bought a Lacoste polo from a powerseller and it turned out to be fake, but it all worked out okay and I got a refund. I would have to suggest that if you are buying expensive clothing you should read the guides on how to tell whether or not they are authentic.

I sometimes find myself searching ebay for long periods of time at work, home, class... whenever I'm bored. There's a lot of interesting stuff on there.

I just purchased a Nokia BL-5X battery from some guy in Hong Kong. Even if it works for like a day...I mean, 5 euro's? FIVE Euro's?

Willing to risk it. I've bought a few things, only what I've needed and couldn't get in a store over here though.

I used to collect stamps when I was younger, and I kind of "re-discovered" that passion a few years ago when I came across WWII stamps. I got addicted and $500 later, I told myself, ok, that's enough. Got some pretty interesting stamps, though.

Haven't used eBay till last week when I had to order screen protectors for my PSP (Anyone who has a PSP would understand how precious a PSP screen is :P). Canada only has Intec... shitty, shitty brand. So shitty that after wasting $30 on it, I decided to sign up for eBay and purchase some japanese screen protectors for $10. Probably won't use eBay again for a while, never trusted deals that aren't face-to-face.

Yeah, buying clothes off Ebay is bad news. You'll see Lacoste and Ralph Lauren polos selling for $20 a piece...if the price is too good to be true, don't even think about it. Same with Versace, Armani, and Dolce clothing...as well as designer jeans.

I did buy a fake BAPE hoody off Ebay though. The untrained eye can't tell the difference and I got it for $60 as opposed to the $325 price tag for an authentic.

Is the jersey authenticated? You'll get a LOT more for your jersey if you send it in to be authenticated by an authentication company...PSA and GAI are generally good choices. It'll cost money to get authenticated, but you'll make at least twice as much as you would selling it without certificate of authenticity.

good ole eBay. I have bought a TON of stuff on there. I live in a rural area where I don't have access to a lot of stores, so I buy a lot of my hard to find stuff there. I also have sold a fair amount of things on eBay. Games, books, DVD's, random things. The only time I've had a bad expreince was with some Nigerian scammers who kept trying to scam me out of a laptop I was selling. It was a pain in the ass. They kept out bidding everone and trying to scam me. Finally I just contacted some of the other bidders and offered it to them for a certain price.

If it doesn't sell for a little while & you're interested, I could always drive it down & fly back  wouldn't rule anything else, although you are probably talking figuratively....
