I wouldn't be the slightest surprised if it's delayed.
From what I've heard, they had a long way to go a couple of weeks ago despite all the previews and vids they released.

DAYMMMMNNN, Gamestop changed it now--man--it's pretty obvious now. But I'll be playing the x box version till then. That sucks

But I'm still thankful they make us a PC version  2 weeks later won't kill me. Remember 2002--uhhhhhh

You know what.. this is actually for the best. The console versions are ready to be shipped out, as I've heard.

EA is doing us a favor by making the rosters up-to-date and also missing players (remember last year, where they didn't have Yao for the console, and they added it for the PC version).

I'm sure we can all wait two more weeks.

Come on, wait for EA to personally come out and tell us when the release date is. Everything else is just speculation.

Actually, "delay" is the things that EA always do, nothing surprise

Especially for the sport game, as EA want to have the latest roster, the release date will be delayed always.
(however, with the roster update here, what EA intended to do seems meaningless  )

ai...another monthly-long waiting...

EA = blows

I don't doubt that the release has been pushed back. I'm bloody sure to that we won't be enlightened about it "officially" by EA for some time.

And I can't buy that rosters are the reason, releasing roster updates for the PC is childs play technically speaking.

What gets under my skin is publishers/developers constantly pushing back release dates. It does nothing but inflame the community. As a practice they should not give out release dates until the game has gone gold.

If they had just come out originally and said sometime in November then I wouldn't have a problem with it. In fact if they got done before then and released it early I would love them. But to announce a firm release date of mid october and then push it back just gets under my skin.

I look at it this way, would you rather have a half assed game and get it on the 14th? Or a build where they had an extra week or so to fix some things. I'd rather take the later..YES it sucks but so does a half ass game. I feel if EA releases 2004 on PC half assed ALL HELL will break loose on the GRIPES section, shit--Andrew might have to make 2 gripes section.

I'm not defending EA but 2 weeks really won't kill anybody, we all know EA takes us PC gamers seriously and they know we are a tight community and they probably don't want to dissapoint us in the long run. NOW, if EA gives us a buggy, non patchable piece of shit on the 4th,,then Andrew better make 3 gripes sections.

Of course I'd rather wait if it meant a better game, but I've been waiting in anticipation for this game since August! I was looking forward to getting my hands on it in a matter of days...

Imagine how I felt for Live 2002 PC......and it never came out

But I feel you, it's more frustrating though if anything. Do you have a console? Maybe renting it might ease the pain--that's what I'm doing atleast.

This is why we need EA interraction at these forums. So they can tell us the reason why its' been delayed...then i'm sure we'd all say "Oh yeah, that's fair enough, thanks."

Well, i was kinda expecting to get Live 04 pretty soon, like in a month...now it looks like even longer for us aussies i guess.

I got a PS2 and Xbox, but I want it for PC because of the customization! Maybe I will rent a console version to check hold me over, though.

My agree completely, I just think there is no legitimate excuse or reason for over optomistic release dates. It causes more problems than it solves.

word yo i wouldnt doubt if they wait until Oct. 13 to say the games release is gonna be delayed.
EA is notorious for jerking the PC live game around.
I remember live 2001 didnt come out until late January 2001 and it was a half finished game at that.but im still keepin my fingers crossed on 2004 to drop on the said date of Oct 14th.

OUCH! Where did you hear that from?

Inside source.

The main thing I heard was that about a month ago they pulled ppl from the pc version to finish testing and tweaking the console versions. The console ones have much stricter rules/regulations/stuff in general that need to be fixed up: manual, content, etc. since they're regulated by a "body" if you will. The pc version has no such thing and therefore gets a half-assed effort each year. They probably make a killing in the console market and just see the pc market as the 'cherry on top.' I think it honestly reflects in their end product (esp last year).

It will be interesting to see if they can make the original shipping date though. I've heard it would be almost impossible to do so considering what's left to do, but that was almost a month ago now and maybe they did some hard-core tweaking/developing.
EA is normally good with their shipping dates (for console anyways). But in the end I think cocobee is right. I'd rather have them push the date back, then to cut out more features (eg. custom teams which i heard was cut due to time constraints rather than entirely cuz of 'legal issues') or release an (even more) buggy product.

Delaying a couple of weeks. So the PC version will be a little different then the console version.

I can tell you this much... NHL 2004 dynasty mode has just an awful UI and believe they've got tons of bad rap about it already. This could be the aftermath of that... NHL 2003 had a UI from heaven to tell you all, if you hadn't played it. You had tons of info on everything and anything going on in the league at your fingertips. Now all the info has been hidden away behind atleast two clicks and sometimes you even have to use the scroll bars, which is just too hard. I don't get it why they did all this. And there's a major flaw in the change lines system, but I won't get into that on these boards. And the game doesn't even prompt you about an injured player that would need to be taken out of the lineup... Which is just bad...

I'm a bit dissappointed with NHL 2004... The gameplay is good and quite realistic, but the line changes and dynasty UI are just about as horrible as they can get.

I'm hoping that they re-evaluate the NBA Live UI too according to the NHL gripes... Just hoping... Atleast we will get the fresh lineups.

Custom teams weren't cut because of legal issues... The historic teams were cut because of this.

With all the stuff mixed up in my head about Live and NHL, I don't remember what was the verdict on the custom teams. Custom teams shouldn't have any legal issues. What permissions would they need for those.

Time constraints are usually the reason why something gets cut...

Man this has been a bad year for gaming... MOO3 was a flop, NHL 2004 isn't that great. Hopefully NBA Live 2004 and Deus Ex 2 will turn the tide and Half-Life 2 might also be on my shopping list.

bishibashiboy, thanks for the info. it seems as if they are finished with the final version of the console game already or very close to it as (no word on it going gold yet) some sights seem to have the game already. I'm hoping that the PC date moves up though. INHO, the PC game has always been better than the console games especially if you had a cpu that can run the game good.

Here's to hoping.

*sigh* I really wish people on message boards would understand that a great many things cause games to be pushed back...but odds are, they pulled people off the PC to work on the console. Not to test, but to finish up. It's one thing to not have the PC version out by the time the season starts, but it's murder if you don't have the console version out because of the competition. PC has no competition, so they're less concerned with the release date.

Also, comapanies HAVE to have initial release dates, otherwise their outlets piss themselves because they can't tell customers exactly when a game's coming out; it's bad for business. Pushing a game back is no big deal at all.
